At last - I can contribute to the "MY Discovery 3"
After what seemed a lifetime I picked my D3 up today.
After finally finding a good dealer I agreed to purchase the day before the budget. The story goes
Mr Darling tries and fails to put me off D3
Dealer keeps price despite RFL increase (think they'd guessed anyway but nice gesture)
Want to swap my plate over.....enter DVLA
wait
wait
Finally came back last Friday so should be able to deliver to me this week
Trailer booked until Mon-Weds so earliest Thur. My work commitments prevents delivery Thurs-next week
BUT off today
Agree to collect from dealer today when we spoke this morning
Dealer 2-3 hours drive away which is a bit of a pain (and I've got the kids with me today! SWMBO at work) so off we go.
Handover great
The best news though is its a 3 hour drive home
I'll put the forum sticker on tomorrow!
Hopefully the fun starts here. Thanks for all help on the forum before I purchased.
Permagrin .... now I understand!ALTERNATIVES...............No alternatives for off-road capability.
If you want Surrey plush, go for a Range Rover. If you want Manchester bling it's the Range Rover Sport. But if it's a seven-seat, go anywhere 4x4, it's time to Disco.

Congratulations! 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!
Blimey! Not everyone has the news of their new arrival personally approved by "da boss". I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Re DVLA and private plates, I put the number on retention when I know I'm changing, get the car with an additional set of plates for the private no. but delivered with the original number. Then as soon as the new V5 arrives (been only a few day last couple of times) off down the local VRO & do the swap. No waiting for DVLA in Swansea to pull their head out of their and I have a set of plates to go back on the car when I slap that number on retention to change that car. That's the plan anyway and seems to work with a lot less messing around than the dealer handling the paperwork.

DSL, TBH the salesman was vv good and did everything to sort retention etc. I have the original plates for this one so I will do exactly the same as you suggest when I come to change next time thanks
