Shark fin removal...I must be an idiot

For the life of me I can't figure out how to remove my shark fin so I can repair and reinstall. I have the head liner down in the back and am at a loss. Anyone have a detail illustration on how this is done. I cant find it any where. I need removing fin for dummies like pictures.
Thanks

You take off the plastic "cowling" then gently pull down the headlining. If you shine a torch in, you will see 2 nuts under the fin. It is a VERY tight fit and some people advise taking off the rear pillar trims, but I managed to get my hand in with a spanner, 10mm I think, and undo the nuts. Be very careful with the headlining and dont crease it, if you feel its too small a gap to get your hand in, take the rear pillars off and that lets the lining drop down a bit more. Thumbs Up

Confused There's no nuts above the headlining holding my fin on. I have the glass roof version; perhaps it's different with the standard one.

With the glass roof version you simply remove the 2 security torx screws on the outside and then the main body of the pod will slide forward. Its entry 'grommet' is simply stuck onto the body and (after disconnecting the cable internally) you can just rip it off.

The mounting frame for the pod body is then just stuck to the glass roof and can be removed by ripping it off as above. Wink

I have the glass roof as well. I keep looking for the bolts under and can't find them. I do see the special hex screws on top and the front piece of the antenna does seem glued to the glass. I also see a small puck like disk which is where the wires come down through the body at the very back of the roof where the metal is. I do not see any nutts or bolts holding that down. Could that be the navigation? Need to remove that as well so I can re-run the wires.
Thanks

The disk you mention is what I called the grommet. It is simply stuck on with very sticky tape. I was quite able to rip mine off though. As I mentioned the front piece will slide forward and out, it's just its base framework that's stuck onto the glass with the same extra sticky tape thats used on the grommet.

In Europe the pod on the D3 was only used for the phone antenna. However in the US I believe it may have been used for Sirius so if you have that then think carefully before damaging anything. The GPS antenna is beneath the rear upper brake light.

Glass roof - no interior bolts.

There are two sharks fin attachment arrangements. The all metal roof version uses the nut and bolt setup referred to; the glass roof version is effectively glue on.

For the glass roof version, a plastic "gasket" glues on to the glass and metal just where the glass roof stops at the rear and the metal section commences. The two short torx screws thread into the plastic gasket. The antenna cable drops thru a hole in the metal roof portion just rear of where the glass sheet stops.

A LR pdf view of both is in my gallery per below.

Problem with silicone is it never really lasts.
You can get pu sealant from toolstation etc and thats pretty good.
Ive used this on the 90 and the boat, all still leak free.

Is the rubber grommet one piece or two? I need to fair or replace wiring through it, as well. The white wire is broken.
