Instrumental cluster sounder repair?

Hi!

My 2005 Discovery 3 SE TDV6 has stopped emitting "sounds" after 278.000 km's on the road. No clicking or warning sounds any more.

As far as I can understand, the sounder is built in the instrumental cluster. If I remove the instrumental cluster, is a DIY repair possible? Have read some of the posts in this forum, and to built in a Piezo sounder has been mentioned.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any answars!

/Ib

You are welcome krausei

Happy to help.

I see Adigorn has also kindly responded with the required info and confirmation, so it really does look like your sounder is on the blink and fixable.
I have responded.

I will document the Mod tomorrow with photographs and post it up.

If anyone can document how to change the red FBh light to green, that would be very useful for all those who have had the clock on the dash update. Thumbs Up

Sadly that is probably not actually as easy as it might seem, as i found out in my steering wheel mod

You would need to :

A) Get an LED of the same case style as the original so it would fit on the PCB. Unfortunately sometimes these manufacturers do not use standard packages.

B) Get an LED of the right kind of shade to match the others and there is a huge variance in shades which can change at different intensities.

C) Get an LED that has the right light intensity to match the others.
