I wouldn't muck about with a switch on the dash. Just use a four pin relay and wire the lamps into the high beam wire on the back of the headlight. One wire from the relay straight to the battery, fused of course. One wire to earth, one wire to the main beam wire and the other wire to the lamps. Simples.
Just want to point out that if you do use a switch on the dash you cannot use that switch to turn the spots on independently of the high beam. It can only be used to turn them off if you are using high beam and don't need them. You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!

Can you please get me a pic of how these are mounted behind the grill?
I must send my Apologies to Sailorboi about this as I promised him an image of the same thing last weekend but haven't got around to taking it.
I have to strip the front end down a bit as they are actually clamped to the back of the metal bumper behind the cover. I can get the bracket off without removing the bumper but it's very awkward.
I'll try to get some time this weekend coming as it's too dark when I get home in the evening to do it.

I have to agree, the switch rarely gets used unless I am working outside in the dark and the spots can be turned on when needed to give some working light (though this does break some rules somewhere).
Also with my setup if you leave the vehicle with the full beam stalk on, the spots will stay on regardless of any other lights, the same applies if you knock it on accidentally when driving when sidelights are turned off. This is not ideal so maybe the 'no switch' route is the best and easiest.

I have finally received the switch from LR today and am now on the hunt for the correct connector to use in the back of it?? Does anyone have a part number/ spare one they would sell??
I was going to start fitting it but will wait till I have got all the parts I think.
Thanks Again

I've finaly made some time to get some better images of the brackets I made.
Basically they clamp around the front cross member behind the Bumper using a big set screw like a 'G' Clamp and then two large Self teppers in the top to steady them.
As mentioned this is so I can remove them at any point and with the grill fitted you'd never know they had been there.

I have another question though: I have the LR aux spot light switch but I am trying to work out which pin does what? There are 5 pins on the back of the switch. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this switch?
Cheers guys, I am slowly getting there with wiring them in

Thanks Guys
Sorry Sailorboi, I worked out the pins on the back of the switch as I went along and soldered wires onto them.
I do remember you will have to switch the -ve supply to the relay as it's the only way to get the internal LED in the switch to light up when the switch is in the on position.

Thanks Nasher,
I saw that post and have read through it and get the switching but I am still struggling to find out which of the 5 to use. I only need three I guess: power in and out and the negative. So not really sure why there are 5 pins on the switch/ struggling to work out what does what. My loom is all made just need to find the in, out and neg on the switch and get it wired up.
How did you work it out? Using a multi meter and the resistance? Or some other way. I am trying with the multi meter but am not an electrician and just guessing hence the question
But thanks for the heads up about swapping for the LED. you don't happen to remember which pins you used on the switch? I saw in your post that you said you have two spare for the illumination. If I know which three that limits my questing
Cheers again

I've just found some scribbled notes on my pad in the garage that I made whilst wiring up the switch.
They are not complete, and not correct auto electrician lingo, but this is what I have with a short note of what I think I meant at the time.
I did work it all out with a multi-meter, and can't remember having to change anything.
Pin 1 - Ground
ie straight to an earth on the car.
Pin 4 - Switched Ground.
ie with the switch in the on position this connects to Pin 1 to supply a path to ground for the relay(I assume you're using a relay).
Pin 5 - LED +ve supply
ie providing a +ve 12V supply to this pin means the internal indicator LED will come on when you swtich the spots on.
That's all I have I'm afraid.
I never did get around to linking the switch into the lighting circuit to give a back light with the main lights on, but I'm assuming one or both of the other pins are connected to the internal backlight LED.
