Hitachi comp exhaust valve rebuild Q |

Right guys , anyone rebuilt this part of a compressor , i need to know how tight a fit the piston should be , with a new seal kit mine is so tight i have to tap it home , surely this cant be right ??

Are we talking Exhaust valve or compressor refurbishment. When I did mine I used all the parts in the kit and nothing was super tight, easy push fit so maybe you may have something wrong. My kit had parts that allowed easily assembly of the piston etc. I would disassemble again and then check that everything is as per the diagram/instructions.

Did you put the exhaust seal ring on the right way round, one side has a lip that clicks into a groove when its fitted properly.
If its round the wrong way or not fully push on it will cause your issue

specific to the exhaust valve , the comp itself is working fine , I found the exhaust valve seized and that why my d3 was on its knees , as for the new seals ive tried them both ways up and even offered it upto the port itself , its just too big but from what I can tell if it was any smaller it wouldn't fit the piston , ive bought a 2nd comp complete and intend to use the piston out of that , im just frustrated as it stopping me getting the car fit for the road
