I run my D3 on 19" GG ATs and love their performance in all the situations I use the D3 in, but have now had the same issue with two of them.
Last year I posted that I was having an issue with my D3 where I was getting a metallic 'Tapping' from the drivers side rear wheel only a certain speeds in time with road speed.
It really sounded like a large stone in the tyre, but wasn't, and could only be heard with the window open, when it was quite loud.
Despite checking everything over a number of weeks I couldn't find the source of the noise, and it only went away a couple of months later when I fitted a new set of rear tyres, so I put it down to an odd issue with that particular tyre.
Over the last couple of weeks, again driving around with the window open now the weather has been getting a bit warmer, I noticed a similar noise coming from the front drivers side wheel at between 30 and 40mph.
As I was going to fit new brake pads anyway I tried that first, and spent a long time on each front wheel with the D3 in neutral spinning the wheel, checking bearings etc and again found no issue.
Today I swapped the wheel over for the spare, which coincidentally is worn to about the same level, and immediately cured the noise. Later today I put the suspect wheel on the rear and got the same noise out of it.
The tyre doesn't have any odd marks etc and I can't explain where the noise is coming from.
Any ideas?

I have a similar Grabber issue, AJS kindly fitted four on to my D3 and I noticed a slight increase in noise when sitting a 50mph, was acceptable. Now a few thousand miles under my belt it is louder and starts at 60 instead off 50. All wheel bearings have been checked so it would seem to be a tyre, just have to find out which one Transit Custom LWB

After 40k on a set of grabbers, and still with 5mm of tread left the noise and vibration became so annoying that I changed them
Now running on Continental Cross Contacts and the difference is astonishing, very quiet at all speeds, although obviously the off road performance won't be in the same league as the GG's, but to be honest I hardly ever venture off road, and even when I do it is usually only gravel tracks Never get mad - get even !!

This isn't road noise as you'd expect, I don't find them noisy at all under normal circumstances.
But certainly don't get 40K from a set
This is a loud tapping like you get with a large stone stuck in the tread of a tyre.

I would guess the tyre may be starting to de laminate, lorry tyres can do this so may be possible on all tyres. Sorry that's about the limit of my rubber related knowledge Transit Custom LWB

In fairness, I drive around 45k a year, mostly motorway and main road miles, i.e. in straight lines, and I try and avoid too much heavy braking, I've even managed to get 35k from Pirelli's in the past Never get mad - get even !!
