He's got my RRS and D3 Grille, so no excuses, as he

Wish you'd done this before I did mine, although in the end it is very simple, it just took some working out how much to take out. Well recommended mod, does anyone need a spare maya gold grill? Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Sorry it took so long Dave, but TBH, I didn't realise how popular it would be when I was making the first one.
It was a bit hit + miss doing that one and I wasn't even too sure it would work out but now I've made a few it is a great worthwhile mod that makes your D3 look totally different. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.
Long Roof Rails

2 x D3 grilles now
Is that grille I got from you FFRR or RRS Hess?
If RRS its a simple copy from the above
Yes Dremmel for Crimble from Santa, so once the wardrobes are built in, the airfix kits are built and sprayed with my eldest, the D3 will get some treatment, oil change due too and front pad swap, I'll just need it to stop raining Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Judging by the gallery pic, it's L322 FFRR, 3 mesh rails like Rentons
I'll just use 2 of them
The Supercharged FFRR grill has a solid strip running along each spar.
That's what I used on the original grill mod on my old D3.
But reckon the FFRR grill is different to Narpys instructions for the RRS grill mod.
Mainly because you don't have a one piece unit to insert as you're dealing with 2 spars from the 3 (dump the top spar as its not as deep).
I did mine one spar at a time for best spacing, then joined up with support pillars.
Oh, and you can open up the top of the D3 grill so no need for that very precise cut along the top edge.
Good to see 'fettling' being recommended in this mod Narpy ....... nice
Been a long time since I had a good fettle.
Great write up btw ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
