De-Tango support
Ok so I've read 10 times Verydisco's guide on how its done and have decided to give it a go on SWMBO'S zenons but I need a bit of moral support please. Is there any additional and helpful advice or tips from those that have done it to help stop me from not totally it up please. The main message I'm seeing is to take my time and not to be 'ham fisted' On a mission to find the perfect Pork Pie. Just Found it (I think)..(Yes I have)

Evenin,
As you say, take your time and don't do mad. I did mine before crimbo and I was rather nervous in case I messed up.
I used a hot air gun as it was much much better than a hair dryer.
The way I did it was to go around and soften the various clips that are around the light. As they softened I lifted them up a bit so they would be clear of the catches. Once done, I then heated all around the edges and slowly prized apart the lense from the body.
It is simple enough to do and the second one is much easier because you have worked out what you need to do with the first one.
Other thing I would say is before you do it, take a picture of the front of the light so you can see where all the orange lens goes because if you are going to cut it down, you can be sure before you do it or how it needs to sit from looking at the picture. Will probably make more send when you do it haha.
Have to say, so pleased I did mine. I did a Narpy grill and replaced the side indicators as well with clear ones and it's made such a difference.
Finally, remember to buy the new bulbs before you do anything. I had some from amazon which I am pleased with. Think they were £7.99.
Good luck

Same for me
Also doing painted wheel arches, wheel spacers, D4 rears and beanie grill !!
After all that, I guess she'll get a good going over.
Exactly how Chris said warm and lift the clips up and let them cool , then warm all around the seal, circa 20 mins working all around to keep al, of the resin warm.
Once nicely warm, start at the hi beam end trying to separate, with gloves on you can grab the protruding part of the clear lens in one hand, and the black backing with the other, I find removing the dip beam bulb cover gives good purchase, them pull apart, it's a tough pull to break the suction of the sealant, once they start to separate, re warm and keep working like that pull, warm etc, the glue will look like stringy chewing gum as it cooks, so beware to keep it off and out of the lamp mirror etc Altox GSM FBH controller thread

I'm sure you will be fine
To be honest, I read all I could before I actually went for it and although loads of people have done this mod and many have written about it, you are never quite sure until you just have a go.
Don't get me wrong, if it does go bad, they are not exactly cheap to replace, but I do think so long as you take your time and use your judgement and common sense, you will be fine, but definitely a hot air gun! If you get stuck, don't panic, put up a post and there will be someone around who will help you out.

I would also say use a hot air gun. Don't hold it too close and keep it moving. When you are finished you will wonder what all the worry was for Mods:

A vote in favour of the oven method, put the headlamp in an oven à t 200° f / 90 °C for 3 minutes, making sure that the headlamp does not touch the sides as this will melt the plastic
Take the headlamp out ........with gloves on
Use a small flat head screwdriver and GENTLY start freeing the housing from the lens, be warned the glue is very sticky (although I found white spirit removed it easily)
Once it starts to move it gets easier to separate them
Once you have done one the second is a doodle
I did mine and I am a ham fisted t t
Good luck

Hot air gun
Less heat in general, as it is more localised to the glueMy D3 Build Thread
