Jay, the IID tool is a really nice bit of kit but is sadly not very user friendly.
It is kind of presumed when you buy one that you'll already have a reasonable insight into how it operates and what can be found where and this is just not the case.
Best advice is have a play around with navigating around different files etc. without actually altering anything. Have a look where different things are and see what you can do, then when you're confident of navigating around have a go at changing a few minor things then move onto bigger mods.
I'm not disrespecting what is a very popular tool but I just think if GAP had concentrated more on publishing a decent user manual rather than something that is full of disclaimers and confusing info it may be even more popular. I've just had a look at the GAP website so I could hopefully point you in the right direction but once again, user unfriendly I'm afraid.Mods:

The reason I ask is that my Nanocom Evo can not do this so I feel I made the wrong choice for my personal circumstances, so I may be buying another manufacturers tool soon, as I maybe expecting too much from the one I have.
I've just read the V3 manual for the IID tool, and don't know where you get the idea that it isn't user friendly. Yes it's technical, but then it is a technical tool. Yes there are disclaimers - but not unreasonable as the wrong setting can make the car undrivable - or at least handle badly.
The BT version is very much easier to use than the normal one (I've just upgraded to the BT version) particularly relating to fault codes and enabling the advanced functions, but it is not hard to use.
I've never used a Nanocom, it wasn't available when I got the IID tool - and the MSV2 is far too much money for the use I'd get out of it.Mark.

Not wishing to start a row with Narpy, but it is in the manual (just downloaded from GAP's web site, Support > Documents):
Top of page 44 covers the Steering Angle Sensor ECU and the Calibration routine available.
That comes under the "Service/Test Routine Definitions", which looking back in page 13 for the menu tree structure is on the "main menu" along with Read Faults / Clear Faults / etc.
So navigate the main menu to Service/Test, select the Steering Angle Sensor ECU from the ECU list, then Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Calibration item from the menu to start calibration.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

In fairness I have reset my own steering angle sensor with my own IID and did find it reasonably straight forward but wouldn't have been able to do it easily had I not had some experience of using it. You do become more familiar as you use it but from the outset I stick with what i said, it's user unfriendly. It is certainly not an easy thing to use in the regular version so to hear the BT version is easier comes as little surprise. As for software V3, I have to be honest, I've almost lost faith in GAP to even release it for the pauper version.
There is a certain amount of trepidation involved too as you can easily screw up and after reading all the disclaimers it's a wonder anybody has the bottle to do anything with it.
It needs a decent manual, not a list of capabilities IMO.
The manual needs an alphabetical listing for all functions IMO, which you can then cross-reference back to the text. At the moment you have to trawl through the whole manual searching for what you want to achieve.

TTM is under Service/Test menu
Don't know why you think it is user unfriendly. I never read the manual before playing with it, and had no issues whatsoever. Everything is straight forward and easy to find...
Only ever read the manual when SNOTM was released, because I was told to!

With the greatest respect DM, you are already familiar with all aspects of Land Rover protocols and terminology, as a mere weekend mechanic, I'm not, as are the biggest majority of D3 owners and IID tool buyers.

I was running V3 beta on my none BT IID tool for sometime - so I am surprised that it hasn't come out yet - I'm sure Pat or Steve will be able to give a valid reason when they are back from their holidays.
As for an idiots guide, I thought the visual of the menu structure in the manual makes it fairly obvious at least where to look - and there are only 4 buttons to press. Essentially, Yes, No. Up down.
As for the steering angle - I'm pretty sure that it says what to do when you go into the menu. Make sure wheels are pointing straight ahead and press Yes essentially.
It is perhaps easy for me and others like me due to the way I work and what I do for work. So, it might well be worth you as a self proclaimed Muppet to get on the Beta program as I'm sure it would benefit you and Gap alike.
