D3 V8 exhaust mods
Hello out there, has anyone modified a V8 exhaust? I'm looking to improve the sound and get a proper V8 burble! Not to concerned about power gains, but if it happens then its a bonus! I'm thinking of removing the two end boxes, just before the bumper and maybe one of the main boxes under the car, but which one!?

Not a V8 I know but on the TDV6 removing to end silencers didn't do anything to the sound of the exhaust I had to remove the resonator box in the centre to get a nice V8 sound and leave the cat in place as without the cat it was to much Wanted D4s non runners pm for competitive price.

Not the Disco, but it is often a topic of conversation in relation to my car.
Centre box is the usual thing to come out - back boxes generally remain. You still want the exhausts from each bank to merge, so its usually replaced by an H-pipe to get an old-school low rev gargle sound, or an x-pipe to get improved scavenging and flow at higher rpms, but with more of a "euro v8" sound.
Lots of generalisation there of course. 2012 D4 HSE for her

A bit of a time delay in answering, but D day is tomorrow going to remove the resonator box and put a cross over pipe in its place , and see how it sounds! Possibly going to put straight pipes after the rear boxes, just have to cut out some of the rear bumper! Will post an update when it's all done.

Well!! T'is done! And what a difference! A lovely burble at low revs and a nice roar as the revs increase, but when you back off and cruise it's hardly noticeable. Will try and get a sound clip uploaded in the near future.
If I say so myself a very good result, thanks to Shane and Dave in Draycott aka Fat cat.

the Griffin system has both back pipes available, and in two weeks a jigged centre replacement resonator or straight through section, all going up to 2 1/2" dia to increase the gas flow, I almost do get to use 1st gear as it accelerates so quick in the manual, so an auto will be blistering fast on a take off!.
