Suspect I already know the answer, but does/can the timed climate be made to work the D3 FBH? Thumbs Up

No because of the canbus differences in speed, as you know these are controlled by this system, thats why the reversing camera will not work.
It goes through the motions but nothing happens..I have the Danhag system fitted on my car so it's always toasty..

Thats the beauty of this mod, the D4 2010 screen contains a hard drive with the maps installed so this is the only thing that has to be changed and plumbed in.

OK, it looks like the LR4/D4 still had the separate player and head unit up to 2010 when switched to the all in one. Which I think means one of these part numbers to watch out for LR021891, LR039269 - it looks like that part may also be used in the LR2 here...(US)
Did you have to recode anything in the CCF or just bypass/unhook the original Nav ?
No changes to the CCF, and all other equipment left in the car.
The only draw back is if you have a rear view camera fitted in your D3 it will not work with the D4 screen canbus issues . The only way round it is to fit a D4 Gifv unit to the screen , I am in the process of doing..

I have a GVIF unit sitting in my office waiting to get fitted - are there D3 and D4 versions then ? I guess I have to get lucky with the nav unit first - came across one for $1600 and an eBay one with apparently the same part number but from a wrecked LR2 for about $400

Yes the gvif units are totally different .
D3 one connects to the sat nav unit under the passenger seat .
D4 One connects to the inside of the touch screenG4 Gone ...but not forgotten
