Alternative Engine Temp Reading
Hi,
Is there somewhere on the SatNav screen that shows the current engine tempreture. ?
I have gone through all the 753 pin code screens etc but could not find anything.
I am looking for an alternative reading other than the actual gauge as I think my one
is a little dodgy. I swear this morning on the way up to operating temp it came down for a bit
and then started going back up again.
This is my first petrol Landy, and it seems to take a while to warm up to normal temp.
Usually in the mornings 15 minutes, and I have driven about 15km in that time.
Is that about right ?
Cheers

I don’t have a petrol D3 so I cant comment on the length of time it takes to warm up, but regarding your temperature drop, I think I can shed some light.
When the engine is cold the thermostat valve on the engine will be closed limiting coolant circulation in the engine. As the engine warms up the water in the engine will get hot, this slowly opens the valve letting cooler water from the radiator into the engine, hence the drop in temp. Once the engine is up to operating temp the thermostat valve will remain open and the water will be an even temp all round.
Hope this helps.

Ok no problem , but i have just noticed its in KPH .....
Ok , first get this screen up ( if you have premium sat nav you will also have 4x4 info icon aswell ..and maybe a tv icon)
Press and hold this invisable button for approx 5 - 6 seconds.
Then press this button untill a keypad shows up.
Like this.
Then enter 753 then OK.
You will then get this screen.
From here you can access the 3 inputs on the screen for reversing cam / dvd and venture cam. As well as checking whats installed in your vehicle ...and various tests .
You want to press VEHICLE SIGNALS
Then you will find the speed , battery voltage ,park brake position , reversing gear on /off ,lights on /off ,various temperatures ....
Hope this helps ...to get out of these screens just push the Left hand hard button just below the screen.G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Thanks Wiggs!
How the .... did you manage to stumble onto the "invisible button"?!
Is there any way you could mess up your software setup by browsing through all the vehicle configs. etc?

I wont take credit for it ..i found it on this web site sometime last year.
And no you cant mess anything up ..in fact i dont think you can change anything ( well not without a little box that costs about £1000..) Most of it is just info ..quite handy for software versions etc , seeing what equiptment is fitted etc ..
There is another set of diagnostics just for the sat nav ...simular type of thing ..check satellite positions , sat nav disk versions , also can test microphone and touch screen calibration ...sat nav error codes ...and a few others i cant remember

I've just had a play with mine, different set of menu options and very different backdrop as well. The speed indicator comes up in KPH and MPH alongside.D3 TDV6SE
