Sat Nav: Navigation to town centre |
|
Hi there!
Is there any way to get the Sat Nav to navigate to the centre of a town or village?
With my Garmin mobile sat nav I can just enter the name of a village and the system will navigate to the centre of that village. With the LR system so far I have not found a way to enter a target location without a full address (or intersection or POI).
Cheers,
Florian

userfehler,
TomTom is better at this, but I do the following.
I don't know if it always finds the centre of the town; it does get near enough for the local sign-posts to be useful though:
1. Choose the Enter Address option
2. Ignore the street name and go for Town
3. Fill in enough town name for the list of towns to appear
4. Choose the Map button next to the correct town
5. Without moving or tapping on the map, press Destination (or Waypoint) to accept the position it first centered on. Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

The town centre is listed as one of the Point of Interests so you can set that up to view in the nav display and then select it as a destination! Not the most intuitive way to do it me thinks!
