Engine failure ---- recon or second hand ???
Hello all, new to this forum, any advice gratefully received.... I've been informed my discovery 3 requires a new engine due to the 'bottom end' being shot. The garage have quoted me 4k for second hand engine with 30 day warranty. Other option includes recon engine for similar price. Anyone know a more economical way of fixing this? Merry Christmas !

4k for 30 days piece of mind seems steep, can yours not be reconditioned, I wouldn't be going second hand unless it was cheaper than recon with paperwork to prove mileage of doner engine and better guarantee
And rebuild.just a thought MY24 Defender 90 X-Dynamic HSE
MY18 Disco 5 HSE Santorini Black Now Gone.

Thanks for replies. The engine rebuild offered on eBay is £2250 plus vat and when I called them they wanted £900 upfront (presumably for the rebuild kit) but having spoken to a couple of people I have been warned to steer clear of them!! The crank on eBay is another option but some garages state the body has to be taken off and others don't! So costs vary massively......... I wonder I anyone can recommend anyone on here !!?

These Guys seem to have some quality stuff they are regulars at the Landrover Shows, they seemed to me a genuine company that does give some thought into their products
might be worth a call after Xmas not cheap but as a few people on here can attest cheap is not always the best
