Bonnet lettering
I have just taken delivery of my 'new' 2005 HSE and wondered if anyone could shed any light on the bonnet letters.
The Disco is silver with all lettering front and back in black.
However, the Land Rover lettering (the spacing, not the letters) on the bonnet is narrower than normal. i.e:
LAND ROVER
rather than
L A N D R O V E R
which is more common.
So my question is: Is this an early example before LR increased the spacing between the letters or did the previous owner do this?
I actually quite like it as it makes it more individual Richard

That's news to me. I suspect that it's an incorrect accident repair.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I imagine somebody has replaced them with black letters. They're usually grey

That looks awful! Certainly not original. I don't think black was used originally so either a previous owner trying badly to pimp his ride or shoddy accident repair.Dave Neil

Deff. dark matt grey - that was what my 2005 SE was born with
Sorry - but those black ones don't look straight - nothing wrong with the colour IMO, but need to be straight.

I don't think they are! I hadn't looked closely until I took the photo last night...
Anyone know the best place to get matte black ones. Most of the ones I can find at matte grey (so I'd have to change the back as well) or gloss?Richard
The should not be "straight". They are actually on a curve but repair shop would just stick on a bit of masking tape and line them up to that.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. If you buy a proper set, they are on a mask so already lined up, just need to centre.

True - but those letters do look a bit wonky (Sorry richard22 - trying not to be rude or critical)
When I smacked my D4 into a van bodyshop replaced the letters - all nice and even but with no discernible gap between the D in Land and the R in Rover - so I have a LANDROVER
Keep meaning to sort it - one day.......

Normality restored
Looks ten times better now...
Definitely worth doing...
Think it may have been body shop. Have found some signs of over-spray at the top of the A pillar (on the black bit) and some dribbles of lacquer on the bottom edge of the bonnet!Richard

The only problem is now the back lettering (which is the original grey, not black as I first thought) looks tatty round the edges in comparison Richard
