D3 wishlist for the future |
|
There's been a lot of speculation on the site recently about new features/trims/engines etc. All of them seem to go some way to fix any shortfalls that the current D3 has.
So...my question is....what features or changes (large or small) would YOU like to see made to the D3 to make it even better than it currently is.
Please provide a feature and your reasons (justifications) as to why it should be added/changed for future production.
(If possible, please try and avoid simply putting "TDV10 engine with 500bhp to outdrag the X5 3.0 TDIs from the traffic lights" etc. For example, If you want a 3.0 TDV6, explain why would really need that extra 30bhp and if you see it as a real possibility to put into production - would new buyers happily cough up more money on what is already an expensive car?). 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Here's one to start you off
(whilst skillfully avoiding the TDV8 proposal that's bound to crop up within the next 15 minutes )
Fold-out tables in seat backs.....
Similar in style to those found in the Renault Scenic /Citróen Picasso etc. Would be a very insignificant cost and would add nicely to portraying the role of family car that the D3 currently does extremely well. Would also be bloody useful for sticking a laptop/McDonalds on 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

A proper trip computer.
Gives MPG , distance + engine running time for the journey as well as overall (same as Mercedes system)
Was much more convenient when noting milage for business use which I could do at any point in the journey rather than having to remember & then use autorout to claim the mileage...... Bodsys Brake Bible

Well....there'd always be 'super' extended mode, but I guess we're taking it too far now.
As Slimer says, there is a good reason that Extended Mode is not selectable manually...
I guess what you want to add to the wishlist (along with the SA and Australian guys) is the option of having more control over the suspension height & speed settings.....maybe this could be acheived with very little cost in software or possibly a compressor, suspension strut redesign. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

In no particular order...
1. Redline indicator on the tachometer
2. Larger fuel tank on the V-8 model
3. Redesigned tow hitch receiver
4. Adjustable (fore and aft) middle-row seats
5. "Headlights on" indicator on instrument panel
6. Revise passenger seat height adjustment to go up and not angle forward
7. Revise front seat head restraints to move fore and aft
8. Design a proper middle-row center armrest into the center seat back
9. Add padding to the door armrests
10. Add fold-in power mirrors for the US
11. Add destination entry on-the-move to the nav
12. Lights should automatically turn on if the wipers are turned on
13. Add more adjustment range to the rain-sensing wipers
