Does the ECJ's judgement here fly in the face of the EU's stance that its citizens in the UK shouldn't be covered by UK law? They say here that the employees should be covered by the law in the country they were working.
Surprised if Davis et al don't jump on this.
Quote:
Ryanair has lost an EU court battle for the right to impose Irish labour laws on its cabin crew working elsewhere in Europe.
The European Court of Justice ruled in favour of six Ryanair workers of different nationalities based at Charleroi airport in Belgium, who argued that they should be subject to Belgian employment law.
The budget airline argued that their work was done in Ireland because the planes they worked on were registered there, even though the contracts stated their "home base" was Charleroi, where they started and ended their working days.
A clause in the crew's contracts stating that Irish courts had jurisdiction and seeking to prevent employees bringing proceedings elsewhere was not enforceable, the court also ruled.

The EU set a minimum standard regarding conditions and consultation, then its up to individual nations to apply the minimum or higher standard. Rulings such as this are where there has been ambiguity within the interpretation .....this doesn't change the fact that after fuxit the UK could decide to set standards below the current EU standard...and this is what the EU want to protect it's own citizens from.
So to answer your question ...this ruling is a non issue because it determines which country, whose standards are above those required by the EU, should have jurisdiction over those employees residing in it

It's a shame the official statistician hasn't adjusted the £350m for the unfunded liabilities that apparently we have to pay for but aren't included in the cost.
They've never included the opportunity cost of the big corporate fines, currently levied at the EU level, either.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Personally I would to vote on the deal that the Gov negotiates. If its no good I want to have the option to tell them and stop the debacle.
At the moment we have a government / Tory party at war with itself, which is exactly why we are in this mess. The Brexit vote was purely brought about to try and solve a problem within the Tory party. They then put us through an election nobody wanted and put us in an even weaker position! What a great success they are now making of the negotiations. If they are this bad at managing the Brexit negotiations and process, why do they think they can lead the country to prosperity.
Its an utter shambles and makes me embarrassed to be British.New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

I have always said that the agreement is simply impossible, I think they are wasting their time because only the break is possible, and I think that is what the true supporters of Brexit always wanted (I mean the political parties) and they knew it, although never they imagined that this would be supported by a sufficient majority as it has been.
I do not see this as a story of good and bad!! I think this mess is going to be bad for everyone and it is not going to be a good solution at all, I would celebrate that you would go back, I would never criticize you for it!! lost in translation!

when the referendum result was announced i was very surprised and pleased.
But i also cautioned to anyone that would listen (not many true) that the media, government, and establishment would fight tooth and nail to keep us in the Soviet EUnion.
Point proven thus far.
My agent in Germany also laughs his tits off thinking that a) Mama Merkel would allow us to leave, and b) our own government would.
democracy - pah, overrated id say.
