Referring to the video - correct
Referring to the OP - different as the spare key is in the glove box

Anyone in Suffolk fancy a D3? All you need is a brick, spare key is in the glovebox, no hot wiring required 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

If using the "Universal key" method, stick a sheet of contact to the glass first. It helps contain the glass and limits the mess that needs to be cleaned up.
If the glass already has tint stuck on the inside it helps.

Wouldnt it be simpler and cheaper to call out your recovery company?

As always Some excellent advice from the members. Given this possible unforeseen scenario I think I will place a 'Universal Key' in my Glovebox. Doesn't hurt to be prepared..! Cheers

how about employing someone to sit in the car and hold the spare key, got to be safer
So I just have to find out the hard way? Geez thanks folks. Really helpful.
To be honest fella I have found this to be the most helpful forum I have ever been on, their wealth of knowledge on all things Disco is fantastic, you have got to understand that they don't know you so would not help you break into a car. If the tables were turned neither would you. Hope you sort it 👍The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

SWMBO has the spare key. Should I use the brick before or after I remove her crash helmet? Or should I just say please may I have the spare key? 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

If that's the case she'll be wearing the balaclava as well. 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.
Please stay on the Forum, get yourself known, than you may find info a tad more free flowing. This and the sister forums (RR Sport Forum etc) are great forums, plenty of help always available and FOC. However, security issues, questions etc will not be given out just like that, especially someone who has just joined.

And, again, I gave a perfectly correct way of getting in by buying a proper key, supplying the proper paperwork showing the OP was a bona fide owner. That was totally ignored. Obviously the brick method is cheaper but a lot messier. If the cost of a new key is too much then it's going to be an interesting ownership experience.
