Wiggs - thank for the quick info - I will try nr 1 - if the plug is there - I will buy the standard aux plate and problem is solved
If not I will try nr 3 and as the last option nr 2. _________________ 4x4:

Connected my aux today, from behind the passenger kick panel, what a doddle, it took less than 30mins, everything was exactly as stated on this thread. Ipod works great.
A first class mod.

I used the method of connecting via the kick panel in the foot well, this has produced a connection but at reduced volume.
If an unconnected stereo jack is plug into the aux socket at the back of the arm rest, the volume returns, so Wiggs is correct about needing to connect these two together. What the result of permanently connecting the two black wires would be I don't know. _________________ Silver TDV6 S with sat nav, PTI and Moosed up a bit

Behind the plastic cover on the back side of the center arm rest there are indeed unsued connectors (thanks wiggs for pointing the direction - 2 of them are multipin and look the same. The third is a 2 cable connector (assuming 12v) supply.
I am trying (so far unsuccessfull) to find out an ordering number for the aux plate itself. Until that time - can anyone who has it connected already tell me the correct cable/colors for the right/left/ground channels so I can temporarily connect into them?
Also - there were some comments on the low volume - using these auxes - is there any solution for this? _________________ 4x4:

XVO500020: Plate with aux connector
YXW500070PVJ: 12V Power Socket for above
I've just ordered them from The Large One, but the power socket is currently on back order from the factory.

As far as the low volume goes, read the post immediately before yours.....(it gives the solution).
Cheers,

This plug on the left is the one that you need (from previous page )

The thicker black sheath with red, blue and black are needed.
RED - RIGHT CHANNEL
BLUE - LEFT CHANNEL
BLACK - GROUND (FOR BOTH )
If you have got 2 plug the same they could well be for the heated rear seats.!!! _________________ JAVA BLACK SE , MANUAL , PRIVACY GLASS , EBONY LEATHER , COLOUR CODED PARTS , SIDE PROTECTION TUBES , HIDDEN WINCH (12000 LBS) , 19" HSE WHEELS.

seems that my connectors are indeed for the seat heating - do not look like the one that you picture is showing.

Yes indeed they look like the ones for the heated rear seats
I would go for this option next ..its easier than pulling the stereo out ..
Its normally in the passenger footwell on RHD cars ..it may be on the opposite side if your in a LHD.
Panels just pull off ...pull as if your sliding it outwards of the footwell towards the seat.
Bonnet release has a small torx screw holding it in place. _________________ JAVA BLACK SE , MANUAL , PRIVACY GLASS , EBONY LEATHER , COLOUR CODED PARTS , SIDE PROTECTION TUBES , HIDDEN WINCH (12000 LBS) , 19" HSE WHEELS.

Just to confirm. If you have a LHD car then it is still in the passenger footwell. (i.e. the opposite side to a RHD car as shown in the photo).

I would like to add an aux next to the power outlets in the front of the centre tray of my HSE - whats the best option. Wire from the inside of the rear aux in the centre or from the access point in the front n/s passenger well as per the photos. I am still a little unclear on the issue of the sound level dropping if nothing is plugged in the rear centre aux socket. Was this an issue in the end or not, and if so what was the fix? _________________ 2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey, Ebony Leather, Tin Tenter

Based on my attempt you will need the fourth black wire from the rear Aux connector, without that your volume levels are low, personally I would wire from the rear aux and run the wires back down the center tunnel.
However your top spec HSE may not need this - Wiggs may be your man on wiring. _________________ Silver TDV6 S with sat nav, PTI and Moosed up a bit

Firstly i have never had an issue with low volume on mine .
Aux source does not work until you plug in a jack plug into the aux socket.
Its the same principle on any electronic unit.Ipod for example ..when you plug in the headphones ..they work because the headphone socket pushes a little pin to switch over the sound.
So i stripped out the aux socket to have a nosey
I tred earthing the aux earth connection and it makes no difference.
What i did find was if you disconnect the green plug, the aux works ok.
So if you dont plan on using the socket in the rear , and you have connected into the aux loom at either the wire behind the aux socket , the plug in the passenger footwell or the stereo its self , just disconnect the plug.
Hope that makes sence
Or you can just simply leave the plug alone and leave a jack plug permently fitted in the aux socket.
LR supply a small blanking plug when they fit the overhead dvd unit , but iv been unable to find a part number or picture of one ... _________________ JAVA BLACK SE , MANUAL , PRIVACY GLASS , EBONY LEATHER , COLOUR CODED PARTS , SIDE PROTECTION TUBES , HIDDEN WINCH (12000 LBS) , 19" HSE WHEELS.

Finally I got some time to take a look at the cables in the passnger footwel. The connectors look the same however - there is no red, black and blue cable comming out of the grey one.
So my last chance is to remove the stereo - and try to plug in directly into the plug.

I just bought the aux plate to connect into these available wires that are behind the blank.
Only to discover that the cables available are for seat heating (2) and 12 v supply.
What you should be looking for is one small green rectanglular plug and on round one. Kinda like a din plug.
