Christmas lights
Car is lit up like a Christmas tree, loses the ability to change gear in auto, command shift works (auto returns after a few minutes with no intevention), sp off, lowers, wont turn off and key gets stuck in ignition. Fitted a new brake switch makes no difference. Bulbs are all operational and good quailty. Clearly it points to brake circuitry but what else to check.

check the 2 ? fuses which supply the brake light switch.
or if easier, check 2 wires have 12v at the switch when unplugged (as a starter)

Could still be a dodgy bulb? Try taking them out to see if it solves it?
Had something similar but was the capacitor not he gearbox that stops transmission whine coming through the radio (or something like that). Cut it off and shorted the wires - was years ago, but been fine since!

Still having the same problems, turn off and restart and it goes away, one thing I noticed just noticed ignition off iid tool was showing 12.1v so looks like battery could be a suspect.==================================

Fairly new but did have alternator problems a while ago.
However a little update, got back home tonight and its gone back to not switching off again, but only if you have your foot on the brake, now wonder if the brake switch I brought could have been faulty arrgh==================================

How about wrong bulb in the offside stop/tail light as being the cause? It had a single filament 21w bulb in instead of a stop/tail light bulb.
I know who the guilty party is as well definitely getting slapped wrists.==================================
