I repeat my advice that 15mm may be too thin for the large diameter section.
Adapters with a 30mm spigot supplied through a group buy were originally proposed to be as shown in the diagram posted earlier in this thread but the thickness was changed to 22mm to avoid the jack fouling the underbody protection, specifically that for the fuel tank, offside front.
This may not be a problem with your jack but looking at the photo it may well be.

Thanks all for the replies on the jack adapter to date, all great stuff. I think the only thing i need to confirm now is the thread information on the original drawing. I'm sure it's right, but just want to double check before pushing the button.

Is there a way to measure / check the pitch detail as the diameter seems right at M24 from my earlier image posted.

so a bit of research on the net tell me that the thread pitch is measured in metric & is the distance between the threads. Therefore from these measures I presume a M24 size with a 2.5mm pitch. The measurement that throw me was the 15mm on the original drawing. Perhaps 2.5mm is std pitch for M24?

So I'm now at this plan to fit a SGS TJ3LP jack.

Nick, sorry to keep posting on your proposed design and not to have done sooner. I have experienced problems with a 15mm version adapter and that was what I wanted you to avoid.
To the point, if you have not yet ordered your adapter you might like to consider reducing the larger diameter again to 65mm. This is the diameter of the group purchase adapters and adequately spreads the load across the width of the chassis. The advantages would be, the bar stock may be easier to obtain, considerably cheaper and would require less machining. There would also not be any risk of fouling anything next to the chassis like the fuel tank guard or compressor cover. If you have ordered I think 85mm will work although close at the offside rear. The usual advantage of having a large pad on the jack for ease of positioning does not apply when the location is fixed by a spigot.

Regards

John

I'm sure someone will be along to tell me why this wouldn't work BUT ...

Get a 24mm x 70mm x 2.5mm thread set screw.

cut the hex head off.

turn or file it down until it looks like this ...

Screw it in the hole in the SGS jack and put some big washers on it.

Yes ... you could use a bolt, but with a setscrew you're only removing threads to begin with so less material to remove.

The expensive part seems to be getting the washers. £225 + vat for a 100 is best I've found so far.

Diameter        hole                   od                   thickness
M24             25.52-25.00            72.00-70.80          5.60-4.40

To get the 22mm thickness for the collar, looks like 4 or 5 washers are needed.

Alternatively, to get more height use a longer setscrew and more washers.

edit: measurements shown stolen unapologetically from Skagg's sketch. Laughing

That's an interesting approach Hardware! I'd not thought of it that way

Lates update. Had the adapter made based on the information I'd gathered. It appears it's not a M24 thread on the TJ3LP jack.

Is there such a thing as a M23.5 size? Either that or it's different pitch to 2.5mm

Nick, sorry to hear that your adapter does not fit.
I came to your thread half way through and your measurement of 2.5mm seemed much as to be expected.
Googling M24 thread tonight I see that coarse M24 threads have a pitch of 3mm, fine threads 2mm or lesser pitch.
The next standard size is M22 and this has a course thread pitch of 2.5mm.
It seems likely that your thread is either an imperial or less likely a non standard size.
It is late now but tomorrow I will try to find a likely imperial size.
If the thread is close to 2.5 mm, (perhaps 10turns/inch, 2.54mm), it may be just possible to recut the thread to the right size but a solution may be to reduce the diameter to fit inside the thread.
This should be strong enough given that a 10mm spigot is but might distort the thread in the jack making reversion to the original arrangement difficult.

Could you turn down enough of the threaded section so that section is a snug fit in the threaded hole? You can then drill and tap a hole in the bottom, say 10mm, and secure in place by screwing a bolt upwards through a big washer.

If it's a snug fit in original hole, it shouldn't damage the thread.

Hi John
Thanks for the detailled reply. As I was unable to identify the thread, I have done as Dean suggested and reduced the diameter of the thread tail on the adaptor so it now slides snuggly into the thread rather than screws in. Dean point of adding a female thread into the bottom of the adaptor to secure from underneath the jack is a great idea.

It would be nice to understand the thread size for completeness & share with others. I'll have another go at asking SGS as they didn't respond to my last email

As much of SGS's product line is to do with hydraulics, I wonder if it's a pipe thread size? Likely Imperial.

Bet Flack thinks so ... whilst I was googling details of the screw thread I found a thread on the forum where he was buying one because he'd lost one Laughing

Sid's law ... searching on PC I'm blowed if I can find it now BUT it wasn't threaded, just slotted in.

Edit: found it https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/sale-sgs-jack-adaptor-174184.html Very Happy

Update to provide clarity on thread size

Just for completeness & clarity, the thread size for the saddle on the TJ3LP is NOT M24 2.5mm. I think it might be a courser pitch. SGS are unable to identify or unwilling to share the data when requested.

I've updated the image to reflect this as I'd hate for someone to have this made up only to find it doesn't fit with the information currently posted.
