Difficult to tell from a distance - easy to mistake a silver one for izmir with the right lighting (or vice versa). It's been a blessing for me in the end though because of all the sand flying around in Dubai - the izmir takes a long time to show it's dirty. Still love the color! Though not sure how the '09 redesign will look in light colors with the new bumpers, wheel arches and handles, so I'd be careful if planning to buy an 09.

Saw a D3 in this colour in Glasgow at the weekend - set off nicely by the p**ing rain and the grey sky. VERY nice - the photos don't do it justice. Definitely looks good on a D3.

I saw one of the Izmir Blues at the Melbourne stealer a couple of weeks ago. It was parked between a silver and a Stornoway Gray. It certainly filled the spot nicely between these two colours. And, it is a significantly different colour from the silver colour.
As was stated, I think it would be a colour which would hold up well between rinses. It may not be for everybody, but it will certainly put the "permagrin" on anyone who is lucky enough to own one! Picked up my new MY08 Stornaway TDV6 SE late Feb. FULLY STOKED! Thanks in advance for all the advice/tips you guys have shared on here!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the colour looks great, if I was going to replace my Arctic Frost thats the colour I would get. Arctic Frost Discovery 3 TDV6 SE, Active Rear Diff, Adaptive Head Lights, Tow Pack, Ebony Leather, Roof Rails, Mantec Guard. Tasmod Stainless Sill plates. Grabber AT's. Home made mud flaps. Side Steps back on until the next time.

well Peter lots of jobs in Dubai so why not make the move? And then you can get the full enjoyment of doing your part to destroy the environment one km at a time with a V8 instead of the diesel!
Definitely a significantly different color from the silver - it's more unique. What I meant is from far away in low light you might not be able to tell the difference.
It's hard to capture the color in photos, sorry you don't like them Alex! There's another album in my picasa I think which has night pictures with flash - different lighting. Can't tell you how it looks in the rain as it only rains about 5-10 days per year here and the wet season is past!
The color is a bluish grey, definitely not the light blue that I've seen on some Range Rovers around here - most people probably wouldn't call it blue at all. A good middle ground between silver and stornoway is a great way to describe it.

I like the photos - just as you say they don't capture the colour saturation with the bright daylight you have. Have you tried increasing the saturation with photoshop or paintshop? it might get it closer to the true colour.

Actually Alex, they do capture the right color at the time - I shot with a Canon 30D, 17-40mm F/4L and adjusted on Digital Photo Professional.
