Heated windscreen & rearscreen |
|
Guys
Has anyone else had these issue's?
The heated windscreen clears really quickly except an 1 inch band inline with the middle of the driver & passenger seats (Ie where your nose would be if you slammed the anchors on a bit sharpish!) takes roughly 5 mins longer!
Rear Screen the middle element doesnt clear at all!
Is this something that would be sorted under warranty?
Cheers

Front screen is in two halves ..so the line is normal
Rear screen sound like you have a problem ...check the elements on the screen to see if any are damaged G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

For the avoidance of doubt I have 2 lines one either side of the screen not in the centre, is that still the norm?
As for the rear if there was damage would they do that under warranty or is that pushing it? '56 Disco 3 SE - Tonga Green

Front -If you look closely at the front screen ..you will see the heated elements dont go right up to the side either ..proberly about an inch from each edge.
Rear -Unless you have a great big slobbering dog in the back when you take it to the dealers ..i cant see why they wouldn't honour it under warranty G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Damage on rear would be pushing it a bit don't think they do trolley dents either.
Front screen sounds a bit wrong, have you got any stone chips or other damage in the area that doesn't clear. Normally there is an area on the drivers side (about as wide as the parking clip (7-8cm) from edge and a narrower strip on passenger side that do not have the heated elements.
There is a very thin strip in the centre line that does take a few seconds more to clear than the rest.
Just a thought not had tints on the rears have you, or previous owner had tints and had them removed ????? "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Yeah know the crack (no pune intended) about the edges, however the 2 lines that dont clear are about a 1/3 of the way in on both sides no issue with actual centre of the screen.
With rear i thought damage would be pushing it, but seeing as only having the wagon a month and the dog has only been in the back once and that was in a cage it might be worth ago '56 Disco 3 SE - Tonga Green

Good luck, I would try too
Check for damage on the front screen, had very, very minor chips on rally car, and that had lines out all over the shop "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

I also have a few front screen elements that don't heat up. I feel like an inmate peeking through jailbars before the working elements heat up enough to compensate. I asked on this forum months ago if I should have it replaced under warranty. The response I got back was that I should leave it if it didn't bother me too much because screen replacement is a violent procedure and could damage paint etc. I've opted for prison bars for the time being. 16 D4 Landmark

I think I've had three windscreen changes by now.I haven't had one single problem other than the fitters not renewing the clips that fasten the A post external trim onto the body (once!).Unless youre not bothered , get it fixed.

Hey, I have that as well - 2 lines roughly in front of each seat?
(I'm not talking about each edge which isn't covered by the elements)
It looks like the screen is made up of three separate panels, not two???
Not that bothered, because it works well, just inquisitive.

Maybe they are just different design's? I have the racing stripe in the middle where there are two elements, working well this morning at -2c with snow on the car, but no signs of the Webasto working (no exhaust smoke) so need to investigate that.

When I turn my front screen off the radio momentarily cuts out.
Anyone else experienced this and why does it happen?
The radio is unaffected by the rear screen.
