Wireless Camera through Sat Nav Screen

We tow a 26 foot caravan fairly often with our 2006 D3 HSE.

On the back of the caravan there is a wireless camera that transmits a signal to a little wireless screen that we usually sit on the dash board of the D3.

My question is can we get the camera to transmit the signal into the screen on the car rather then having an additional screen?

Thanks for your help guys.

Regards

David.

What type of connector had the camera got on the end

The Disco screen has 3 inputs on the rear. You have to access them through the diagnostics menu ( which takes about 10 seconds to activate)

At present there are no inputs or outputs on the camera as it is purely wireless.

Is there any way of plugging in a wireless receiver to the input on the screen?

Thanks Wiggs.

Unfortunately not, its a very neat little unit really.

It's a Virtual Reality Video Labs Camera unit which is designed for reversing use but its wired into the caravan so it's on permanently.

Proberly the best idea then is to get yourself a wireless reciever and plug that into the Disco screen

Something like this

http://www.spywarehouse.co.uk/spy-cameras-...od_21.html

Obviously you need to get one that is on the same frequency ( or an adjustable one )

Thanks Wiggs will look into it.

Would i need other connectors to wire it into the display on the car?

Once this had been fitted how easy would it be to toggle between camera view and sat nav on the screen?

Also how do you toggle the screen into Diagnostics mode to set things up?

Regards

Connectors you will need are here http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic6915-15.html

Diagnostic screen details are here http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic8038.ht...input+test

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic12736.html

Or some in my gallery here http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=1282

Sat nav guidence will work while you have the camera ( or dvd /tv ..whatever) connected ..it just dosen't show the maps.

To get from camera to sat nav map screen ..push the left hand hard button under the screen.

To go back to camera you have to enter the diagnostics screen again.

I am at present investigating interface boxes which will allow a couple of AV inputs and a reversing camera , all changable at the push of a remote.

Didn't read very carefully then Laughing

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic8038.ht...input+test explains how to get into the diagnostics menu

When you get to this screen

Press one of the 3 black squares and the screen will go full size and show what ever is connected

Like this

connectors are these 3

Connector colours are

Green is TV/DVD, Brown is Companion Cam and Tan is Reversing Cam.

Screen is very easy to remove ..pull of the surround around the stereo ..grab down the bottom at both sides and pull towards the gear lever ...it will be very stiff the first time ..just held in by 4 clips ...it will then look like this

4 screws hold the screen in place ..slide the screen forward so you can disconnect the 3 connectors at the back ..blue one is GVIF signal from sat nav dvd player under the seat ..gray is the power etc ..and orange is the fiber optic cable ..be carefull with that one ..try not to bend it .

Then get your self a connector ( or 2 or 3 ) and plug them in ..connectors look like these

These can be purchased from various places ..look at this post

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic6915-15.html

Hope that makes a bit more sence ...loads of pictures in my galleries here http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/index.php?cat=11468

And yes you can plug in a dvd / tv / camera / mobile phone ...basically anything that has a video out signal.

Found this link very useful, and managed over the weekend to connect up DVD to Sat Nav.

One "idiot" point though. Got it all connected and was very pleased to see an image of the screen, but it was all a bit fuzzy so thought I had a short. Just about to take it all apart and check when pressed the PAL button. Image then went perfect.

So seems very obvious now, but my DVD broadcasts in PAL and default on screen is NTSC. So don't despair if at first image not correct.
