The recirculate flap is on the top of the fan/heater box assembly, and you could presumably drop something in there, but I doubt it would happen under normal circumstances cos the glovebox closes up against the gap - do you think something may have dropped in from your glovebox if it was overfull and squashed closed?
Otherwise your fan assembly is unbalanced for some reason
Oh, and by the way, my flatulence problem is still sorted, another month and a bit later
Have dropped the lower glove box and there is certainly nothing "foreign" in the system. When the vibration and noise are there the casing of the fan is quite stable. Anybody have knowledge of the routine to get further access to this area - other than stripping out the whole dash?
Had the same on my disco after a service where they replaced the pollen filter , I think. Technician came out to my house as it was over weekend. He dropped the glovebox, bottom one, took out the filter and felt around. He then found a type of foam spunge that fell into the fan, not sure but I think it was lying on top of the fan. after that no more brrrrrrrrrrrring. Hope this helpsWhite MY2011 SDV6 HSE

Someone must been very clever to see up the side ..i certainly can not .
I have today cured mine with some silicone spray . I can actually get hold of the offending part and while pressing the circulation button , stop it farting .
Heres how i did it
Remove top glove box ..very easy
Remove surround from the stereo , sat nav etc ..just pulls off
remove passenger side air vent ...just pulls off
open top glove box and pull outwards ..you can get your hand in the now removed passenger vent and push it out if it helps .
Thats it ...
Top glove box removed
Heres were you need to be looking
Follow the pointer and you should see this (white lever )
You can get your hand in there over the top ...you can then feel to the right hand side the little lever ..mine was quite loose and moved back and forth
I then positioned a little plastic tube ..held it pointing at the offending lever and squirted some silicone spray on it . Pushed the button a few times and the noise stopped . Cant guarantee for how long yet though .
G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I'm glad you didn't try copper grease I find it more abrasive than lubricant. I once had to do some emergency work on a wheel bearing to get some mud out and used the only grease I had to re pack it (yep, copper grease). 2 days/100 miles later Saturday came around and I dismantled it all to paraffin clean the bearing and repack it with proper grease. Too late; you could see where the case hardening had been worn away Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Wiggs,
Thank you for posting this information. I just bought my first LR a few months ago. I love my LR3, but that noise was annoying. I used the information from your post to fix the actuator. The key is to get the grease onto the side of the actuator lever. I was able to reach the lever and apply the grease with my hand, even though my hands are normal sized. Anyway, thanks again for posting the information and pictures.
