My D3 grill mod - ?
Well, wasn't going to post any pics until mod was finished.
[not had much time to work on this project]
However FL2 grill is now set into the D3 grill [not yet filled/blended/painted.]
So since having new MY09 bumpers on I offerred it up to see how it looks and check all the fixings are sound.
But, I don't know if I like it
Pic 1 - shows when I had just removed the 'A' frame etc in Dec.
It features the silver bumper, with no LR bonnet lettering [and light guards are off]
The FL2 grill cut out is just strung over the D3 grill.
Pic 2 - shows the FL2/D3 mated grill with my black bumpers and added LR bonnet lettering [as well as light guards].
But I'm now not sure at all. ... does it now look too narrow?
Is it the lack of silver bumber?
Is it because the bonnet LR lettering stacks it higher and therefore looks narrow?
Is the LR lettering too narrow, should it be spread out more ?
Is it the missing LR badge
A mix of many of the above
Or am I looking at making something out of nothing and being over critical ?
Pic 3 - is with the LR bonnet letters etched out & badge blacked in [in an attempt to identify].
All comments good or bad most welcome.
btw, I don't want it to *look like a D4, I just want to update my 5yr old D3 to the new corporate face of LR.
[* = I'd have gone down wings/lights/grill had that been the case]
If someone fancies taking up this project, - just needs filling, blending and painting, I'm possibly willing to move it on [at a cost].
