Rear belt on LHD
Can someone please advice on where to access the rear belt on an LHD? Is it from battery (right hand) side, which is opposite to what's been shown here? Any other problems to expect?1951 Series One 80" 1600cc Deep Bronze Green

Wondering if I should be using loc-tite on the tensioner and ldler pulley bolts ? Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!
No do not use anything on the bolts its not required..

Its the same as right hand drive just follow Disco_Mikeys how to on here and you will be fine..its just on the other side.

Will be changing belts and more importantly a modified oil pump (courtesy of TLO) next week , did the hpfp belt and idler last week , what a that was , the cuts and bruses on my hands have healed nicely now Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Just done it
Thought I'd post just to say once again what a great resource these forums are!! Got the bits from TLO and thanks to this really clear guide I was able to do it myself on my drive. Despite my nervousness and losing some skin it all went well. The rear belt is tricky but perseverance gets you there. The front two were really simple in comparison - five hours including a lunch break for a complete novice!
I also bought the cam pins from a member on here and the Halfords tool kit due to the recommends on the 'bargains' thread,

I have a 2006 Disco3 and I will change belts the next weekend. How do you guys do with the bolts for the tensioners and roller? Use the old or change them for new ones? There are no bolts provided in the Dayco kits I have bought.
Change the bolts as they have changed the design of them..

Once again a thread of yours has helped no end.
Managed to change the belt this afternoon with far more confidence than I would have had without your original post.
Some observations.
I consider myself to have an extensive toolkit, but did need to buy a couple of things to do this, so anyone planning it should note the following, especially if like me you plan to do it over a weekend and might not have access to another vehicle to get stuff mid-job.
Fan spanners. I have a home made set I made a while ago when I changed the alternator.
You won't get it off without something to hold the pulley.
I have a wide range of 1/2' drive sockets, drivers, torque wrench etc, but had to buy some 3/8' drive tools to do this.
Lots of the bolts are 8mm heads, which is on the small side for anyone like me who uses 1/2' drive.
An 8mm spanner won't get to a lot of them, you need an 8mm socket, an extension, and a way of driving them.
Don't consider starting without an E12 size Female Star Socket, the outer pulleys use this size star bolts and a normal 10mm socket will round them off.
This was one of the 3/8' drive tools I had to buy, but used a 1/2' to 3/8' adaptor to undo them.
I actually had to pop out to Halfords mid-job to get this, as until I had the fan off etc I didn't know I needed it.
Obviously the cam locking pins are vital. I brought a set off here second hand, although I was being lazy as I could have turned them up in my lathe.
My 1/2' drive Torque wrench didn't go down as low as 25NM, which is quite low, so I had to buy a lower range one. This was another 3/8' drive addition to the tool kit.
Make sure you have a 13mm socket to fit it.
10mm Allen key to tension the tensioner. I had one but some might not.
Finally, don't forget you'll need to top up the coolant and probably open the bleed valves to get the air out of the system.
Oh, and of course, any excuse to buy tools is a good one.

Thanks for a good and informative thread. Timing belt is now changed without problems and I did not take the starter out. Only problem was that I needed fan spanners to get the fan off. Now I am going to tackle the rear belt as well. I am a bit worried I might have trouble reaching it as I am in no way a small man...
