You can carefull peal back the outer edges of the rubber cover - it sits wrapped around the inner white switch recess - which is itself held into the handle assembly via a pair of 'tabs' or one in my case !- as far I could tell this is the only water seal and it obviuosly isn't up to the job. ... anyway, the rubber moulding wraps around and below about 5mm of the plastic moulding - a small screw driver will help - once off you can see the problem inside.
The last few weeks of cold weather has seen my switch freeze up - I have cleaned it out three times (about weekly) - I am thinking of using some silicon gel to squeeze into the inner seal face of the rubber to try to reduce moisture ingress - I can't see how else to improve things. Without buying a new handle assembly.
Maybe warm it all up before you start - to make it a bit more supple !
do you have a pictures of under the cover ? got webasto working
needed new combustion chamber p.s lots of snow fantastic day for having a land rover
will have to do boot soon it froze up again needed to get heater out but its -10 nealry everyday now
