just to confirm
You need sreering angle calibrated
(not only faults reseted or so)
so having right equipment (Ids/autologic/ MSV)
using steering angle calibration procedure (set the wheels stright-press the button) get it calibrated
Enjoy faultless ride

Well I had the steering position sensor calibration checked this morning and it was 15 degrees out of allignment!
I have had it re-set and calibrated and so far so good, touch wood it seems to have cured the issue although I have nor driven any long distances today.
Will pop out for a drive tonight to see if all is remidied!

interesting. i get the same fault on my 2009 D3. i put it down to a bad battery/poor charge as this for sure can cause the faults in the order you described.
Not thought of the steering sensor - was this showing as a fault? i have checked the fault i get and its always lost comms with the terrain control.

No there was no fault logged, it was only the suggestion of member Adigorn that had me check it today.
I have been out for a drive tonight that would have had the fault occur normally about 3 - 4 times over the distance, and not a single fault!!
Who would have thought wheel aligment would cause it to spaz out and shut down all the systems!
Big thanks to Adigorn for the spot on diagnosis!

Impact of steering angle calibration on Air Suspension |
|
Hi guys
the steering angle has indeed quite a curious impact on the behaviour of the air suspension system of the D3.
I am currently in the process to get our D3 to behave again. It shows all the signs so well documented on this forum, such as HDC warning, access mode only and no offroad programmes available.
Checked out the steering angle tonight with my Hawkeye and the reading was -4.9 Deg. Calibrated it via the Hawkeye and 90% of my problems seem to be gone. On 2nd January a new brake light switch will be fitted. Brake light bulbs were changed for Osrams 2 months ago.
The above repairs will hopefully sort out this issue once and for all time. EX AFRICA SEMPER ALIQUID NOVI

Neither of my front sidelights work and haven't for a while now but no problems with the suspension or any other systems. I just bet when I change the bulbs and get them working the whole car will self destruct! You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!

Mmm that's interesting as I believe a sidelight be it front or back is a common cause of he HDC fault and suspension dropping, anyway they are easy to change just pop the grill off and the lights come out easy enough, longest part for me was getting the old bulb out without breaking it.
If I leave my D3 for a few days without running it when I fire it up I get the HDC fault and special program's not working but I put it down to being cold and poss battery starting to play up as I have had the same one on for two years now plus not had any real issues with D3 for a month or two so something has to happen Goodyear Duratracs
