Greasing the Gearbox Linkage
Just a note to say that if your planning on greasing the Gearbox Shift Linkage under the car (White Lithium Spray or WD40 both work) due to a stiff gear change then it is possible to access the lnkage easily by only removing the the three screws on the drivers side of the plastic gearbox protection panel and gently pulling it down far enough to get the spray can in.

Halfrauds spray grease also works a treat. Applied the stuff in early summer & no problem with sticky linkage. I steered clear of WD40 as had read somewhere that whilst initially effective, it dissolves any lubricant there. Might be wrong though.

WD40 seems to have the quickest desired effect buy probably cleans off any real grease already there.
Maybe WD40 first then Lithium Spray grease on top!

Sounds like a plan. Great fun when the linkage screws up, I got left with only N & R in a petrol station, had to get towed the final few hundred metres to Frank Oggs by their Deafner.

There was an updated/modified gearlinkage that was introduced to stop this problem. Does the modified linkage still need greased ?

No idea, my linkage has been replaced a couple of times & still jammed up. Last time 18 months ago. I'm not wasting any more money on it, it hasn't gone wrong since I sprayed it. If it does I'll just spray it again.

Gave mine a spray today with car in extended mode
and a couple of axle stands just incase
although my gear selection wasn't too notchy, it has improved to a nice smooth/er operation..

View from just behind front right wheel, plastic guard. Remove front couple of bolts, 10mm socket ISTR. Once front has dropped down obvious where to spray. I think the link is driver's side of gearbox but may be wrong.

Car down at access height so obviously lot more room at offroad height.

Had the auto jump out of drive all by itself a couple of times recently so removed the access panel and lubricated this linkage today, repeated application of WD40 and selection of all modes. Now I realise how stiff the auto shift had become, moves very smoothly now and requires a reasonable push to shift out of drive into neutral unlike before when breathing on it would do it.
