is a double din not a standard size? I think you just need the adaptor and cables to fit it into don't you?

Well its one from eBay with all the gadgets and gizmos,.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400306468492?ssP...1438.l2649
It's got everything I need on it and it's within my price range, plus it's all good reviews on that particular model
I just didn't want to order it and realise that it didn't fit is all, hence why I was wondering about the sizes

Is that one of the Chinese units with TV, Sat Nav, IPod connection etc. I used one a while ago for another car and it worked well. If it has the programmable sterering interface, you can buy a can bus adapter and then program the buttons to work. Not sure how the amp is connected on the HK radios, but you may need to put a resistor inline on the outputs from the new radio. I fitted one to a Saab which had a factory amp and this worked well.
You can buy a D3 adapter plate for the front to make it look good.

Yeah I found one on eBay which was only £14, looks in pretty good condition too but you can't tell from the pictures alone I suppose,. I'm new to the whole landrover club so I'm still figuring out what's what really, live and learn ay

£14, that is cheap the front plate and cage will probably cost more than that.

The 6 disk head unit is the hub of the infotainment system .
First off it generates a clock which gives the rest of the modules and dash the time .
You will loose all settings for the instrument cluster LCD
Secondly the head unit sends out a most signal ( fibre optic ) ... This then lets all other modules work ( screen / amp / tv/ Bluetooth / TMC etc ) ... So none of these will work .
And finaly the head unit does not have any speaker wires attached to it .. There all on the amp under the drivers
I have know people to fit the old head unit away in the boot to keep its functions working .. Then fit a new radio / amp
If its the base radio ( 1 cd ) then no problem .. Just get an ISO converter lead and swap the radio over G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

So does that mean that the info on the dash behind the steering wheel won't work properly??
The actual dash doesn't have the sat nav unit because it's the 's' model, I was more worried about the air con, heated seats etc,. But if it affects the main trip computer then I'd be worried,.
It comes with a manual and I'll be honest and say that I know naff all about cars, I've been learning bit by but over the past 6 weeks so I'm new to the disco gang

Well the clock is on the radio and I get a clock on the new LCD one so that's not a problem, I'm just worried about the settings, it's a 2005 model btw,. I'm guessing you mean the 'trip' and 'range' settings,..???
Sorry if I sound abit dumb I only know little bits haha

If its the single cd radio unit then you will be fine on dimensions. I have one fitted myself and have had several different units over a period of time ( pics in gallery) all have been well worth it. If you need help on the wiring, adaptor cables etc.... Just get in touch .

As stated earlier in the thread Double Din is an industry standard that these units are manufactured to for size. I have never had any issues on size over the sveral of these units I have owned. If you google Double Din Dimensions then you will find the standard dimensions I am sure.
As for being a star - yes Iknow ......
