I think that you will find it impossible to get a new set of big end & main bearings.
If you do please let us all know.
It should be fairly easy, but useless if you can't get the bearings, to get second hand rods & a s/h crankshaft.
Search the forum, and you will find lots of answers.

When I replaced an engine I found a replacement at a scrappy via eBay and got an Indy to replace it, engine was about £2200 and engine replacement including clutch, flywheel, brake pipes and a few odds and odds was about £3200.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I have a theory re lack of availability of engine parts. Once the supply of second hand engines dries up then peeps have to spend a fortune on replacement engine, way more than the car's worth. That way the car gets scrapped and the owner then buys a nice new shiny D4. Job done and everyone's happy from the salesman to the dudes in the factory to the government (more tax). All except the poor customer.
No doubt not just applicable to JLR.

Hi Dave182 i have also been in the same predicament,I searched high and low for big end bearings, mains, crankshaft and i have a couple of friends in engineering shops and one managed to source a crank but that was all that was available apparently land rover haven't released any drawings so are keeping them tight to there chest for some strange reason wonder why that is
So the next cheapest alternative was a new block from TLO which includes oil pump, cranks, pistons, head gaskets plus you get the added bonus of the uprated oil pump and crank so basically just add your heads sump and accessories and that come in cheaper than buying a second hand engine plus you know what you've got at the end of the day
Sorry its not more positive news

Hi All,
Got serious problem with my Disco 3. Engine ground to a halt and synopsis (without taking it apart) is that it needs new crank, con rods etc.
I am working with a garage for them to give me a quote to do the work but they are struggling to source the following bits:
- 1 x 2nd hand crank shaft (standard)
- 2 x 2nd hand con rods
- 1 x new set of big end bearings and main bearings (standard)
Disco 3 TDV6, 08 reg and engine code is 276DT.
Does anyone have any ideas on where these parts can be sourced?
Also, does anyone know of any garages/privateers who would be interested in quoting for doing the work?
Many thanks in anticipation
Dave
Hi Dave
sorry to hear that you are another casualty on this long ever expanding list. Here in SA we are sitting with a double predicament.
1. No availability of spares and/or infos from LR.
2. Horrendous pricing for importing a short block due to the low value of the Rand and shipping costs.
One of the leading indies in SA, situated in Randburg is currently rebuilding two engines as a pilot project.
The main problems that needs to be overcome are modifications that need to be done to the conrods, i.e. to incorporate properly tabbed bearing shells, and not that @#! rubbish that is standard in there and the cause of most of those engine failures.
Once this project has been finalised, I will then post pics here for you guys to get an idea of what it entails.EX AFRICA SEMPER ALIQUID NOVI

No, it's a Ford/PSA lump. I don't think LR can get spares anymore than we can.

Hi Discostu
it was actually a Peugeot/Citroen development. This engine is also used in Jaguars and in the Ford Territory in Oz.
Parts used to be available from Peugeot at one time. On the insistance of one of the manufacturers ?? using this engine, those parts were removed from the market.
Pistons and conrods can be made fairly easily in the States. Bearings are more difficult but it is possible.EX AFRICA SEMPER ALIQUID NOVI
