A guy on the FF forum let his insurance company take away his 11plate 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE and swap it for a pug 107.... Such a lucky chappy
On a serious note i know a few members on here despise anything from the french but they are solid cars of late and yes cheap inside and possibly out but the running gear is usually strong stuff and electrics aren't as bad as they used to be in the early 2000's by a long shot!FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner
Test piloted a new D4 XS SDV6.. Gone and being forgotten i hope!!

Must admit, I wouldn't get rid of my D3 given I tow too (twin axle)....be too worried nothing would compare. I have a Fiesta on Ford Options that costs me £160 per month that sips the fuel and is surprisingly good in the snow!! I feel the 'big car' , 'little car' combo works well
I recon you should try and keep such a nice car D3 HSE 06 with all the bells and whistles

Something big enough to tow our caravan (a Bailey Pegasus) so ideally needs to outweigh it by 20% which means a car with a kerbweight IRO 1700 kg.
Also, SWMBO insists it's a 4WD so we don't get stuck in soggy certified locations.
I want something that'll do 35 MPG solo at the very least and something that's not going to cost an arm and a leg every time I get it serviced like the D3 does
This narrows the choices down a fair bit but at the moment, I quite fancy a Hyundai.

How about keeping the D3 and leasing a cheaper to run car for daily commute etc.
Maybe it's just me, but I can't see the point in running another car alongside your D3 to save money.
You'd have the vehicles cost price, servicing, repair, VED, insurance, depreciation etc to fork out on top of the D3's costs.
So surely these extra costs would outweigh the existing costs on solely running a D3 ....

Thanks for the support ronp. Me and SWMBO talked it over last night and came to the same conclusion.
The D3 has been the best car I've ever owned but sadly, it's time for her to go.
I've had a look on AutoTrader with a view to advertising her on there and realised I've overpriced her a bit so revised asking price is now...

My findings exactly. I bought a Mini Cooper D Clubman to use for an economical main work tool but kept the D3 for occasions when I needed the extra space, the Mini was a great little car but not a patch on the D3 for comfort, road presence and generally putting a smile on my face, in the end I found I was using the D3 more and the Mini less, so after 6 months I flogged the Mini. After nearly 4 years of D3 ownership I've never tired of it.Clive

Hi and welcome to the site. You're an awful long way from me down in Portsmouth (I'm in the North East) and some of the answers to your questions are in my original post but here goes....
1. Part Land Rover and part Land Rover approved service history. I can't guarantee I have all the original reciepts but I have a lot.
2. No - never had a problem with it, not once, ever!
3. Yes, back in 2011 at about 102K miles
4. No
5. Yes, in March 2012 (drilled discs and Ferodo pads
6. Some have been done where required. Both front wheel bearings have also been changed - one in 2010 and one in 2011. I replaced both rear ARB bushes with red polybush ones in 2010. I have a set for the front ARB but never got round to fitting them but the originals are still OK.
7. No problem with diffs. Auto box was 'mega-flushed' in 2011 and is still OK
8. See original post. EGRs are blanked so even though my FCR says there is an EGR fault, they will never cause a problem, ever!
9. No. Never had any suspension problems, ever!
10. 06MY HSE didn't really have any 'option packs' unless you count the towbar and electrics, which it has
Still no photos yet as I want to get the interior cleaned up first . It's a job that gets neglected in the winter I'm afraid as I don't have a nice warm garage to work in!
Hope this helps but any more questions, please feel free to ask Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

Thank you, lots of info and enthusiasts here.
Apologies yes reading back some were answered. A bit concerned with the mileage but most serviced and looked after examples seem to have taken car of a lot of wear and tear items. Any problems with the engine doing 200k.
Distance may be a problem yes, again apologies a little enthusiastic with my request.
Managed to line up a 135k hse to look at tomorrow. High but fully main dealer maintained.
Thank you again.
Sold it! Well, traded it in. Not for another Land Rover sadly but happy with my purchase. Thought I'd best let everybody know quickly so I don't waste anybody's time. So, that's it (unless the deal falls through). I have a few more days with the old girl before I have to wave her goodbye. She'll be sorely missed Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years.
