SOLD - My 55 plate 06MY Discovery 3 HSE

Sadly, the time has come to find a new, loving home for my very good condition Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE.

First registered to me in September 2005 (lower tax band)
124k with full LR (Stratstones) and LR-approved (Les Potts 4WD) service history
MOT valid until September 2013
Taxed until end of August 2013
Automatic gearbox
Memory heated leather seats,
Rear heated seats,
Climate control system, front and rear
Premium Harmon Kardon sound system with subwoofer and rear seat controls,
6 cd changer,
Parking sensors front and rear,
Removable Land Rover towbar and single socket (13 pin) electrics
Air suspension,
7 seats,
Sat Nav (for on and off-road)
Adaptive Front Lighting System (xenon headlamps, auto-levelling and swivelling with lever-operated headlamp beam adjustment).
Turbochipped in 2006
Bell Auto Services (BAS) EGR blanking kit fitted (I still have the removed parts if you want to refit them Laughing )
ITG air filter
Bluetooth handsfree phone system upgraded to enable phone book download
Vredestein Wintrac Extreme tyres
Mantec front protection plate
Wheels recently refurbished (by The Wheel Specialist) and powder-coated
Fault Code Reader from Black Box solutions
Remote (keyfob) activated FBH
Drilled brake discs all round (fitted March 2012) and Ferodo pads.
LED side, tail and stop lights. LED cornering lamps. LED internal (overhead) lights and red LED map reading lamps.
LR rubber floor mats front and rear + LR boot liner.

My Disco has been fantastic and has never once let me down in 7+ years of ownership (the closest it's ever came to that was when the alternator failed at about 70K miles but luckily for me, it failed as 10forCash was servicing the car so he was able to replace it for me there and then Bow down ). It's an absolutely superb towcar and has hauled our caravan to France and back every year for the last 7 years without any problems whatsoever. It's also hauled it the length and breadth of the UK too Thumbs Up

I'm looking for £13K ONO. I will post some photos when I get the chance to give the old girl a good clean (winter is never a good time to sell a car Big Cry )

SOLD

No Pics as yet (it's far to grubby Embarassed ) but once it's been valeted, I'll get some posted.

Ah yes, colour - I seem to have left that bit out Embarassed .

It's in Bonnatti Grey with Alpaca leather.

Main reason for sale - the weekly fill ups at £90 a go are getting too painful so I want to get something that'll do more than 24 MPG (well, a lot more I hope Rolling Eyes ).

Shell garage at the end of our street - £1.39(.9 Twisted Evil ) this morning for a litre of diesel. But that's 4p up on the week before last Twisted Evil

I also try to fill it when it gets down to the 1/4 fuil mark. That way refills don't go over the 3 figure mark - daft I know but doesn't seem quite so painful when it's under £100 Whistle

Something big enough to tow our caravan (a Bailey Pegasus) so ideally needs to outweigh it by 20% which means a car with a kerbweight IRO 1700 kg.

Also, SWMBO insists it's a 4WD so we don't get stuck in soggy certified locations.

I want something that'll do 35 MPG solo at the very least and something that's not going to cost an arm and a leg every time I get it serviced like the D3 does Big Cry

This narrows the choices down a fair bit but at the moment, I quite fancy a Hyundai.

I know, I know Rolling with laughter

Any recommendations anybody Bow down

How about keeping the D3 and leasing a cheaper to run car for daily commute etc. As an example someone in my office leases a brand new Ford Fiesta, no deposit, 36 month deal, 15,000 miles pa, £204 per month. He'll just hand it back rather than pay the final balloon. Iirc, he gets about 45mpg, can't remember what engine it is.

Hmmmmm.....

Certainly a consideration though I'd have to take into account the extra insurance and VED costs Smile

Keep the D3 Bow down

Or, blow the bank think you only live once and get a D4.

You could get something really cheap to run. I have a VW UP! alongside the D4 and it is incredible on fuel, guage never moves really really really cheap to insure, fixed price servicing etc. It doesn't get much cheaper Thumbs Up Its also fairly fun to drive too Thumbs Up

Unnecessary quote removed

I've got an old shed of a golf for the daily commute, couldn't part with the D3 as it has its purpose in life whereas the golf idiot cheap to run. Trouble is ; I have a habit of getting in the D3 in the morning as the driving experience doesn't compare.
