So, four weeks after the breakdown, the car arrived back in the UK and dropped off with my local LR dealer. The diagnosis is indeed a seized engine with a snapped crankshaft
They are submitting a technical report to LR and will then speak to Customer Services once they get confirmation that it will need a new engine.

I bought a recon engine from NWS in Shropshire and got my indy to fit. Very happy so far. Got to have 500 and 1000 mile oil changes but got 12 months warranty Pot Noodle Challenge Winner 2011

I used Eurojag for my engine and they were very straightforward.
It's hard to know for sure but I've no reason to suspect the information they provided wasn't correct.
Mine was a Jag engine which had done 65k and was very clean and tidy.
I've now done 35k on the engine and it runs fine. D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.
D3 2005 HSE, Bonatti Grey, now sold but still comes back for servicing.
Defender 2002 Td5 Commercial, had a hard life but slowly being restored.

Well I bought an engine from them had it fitted and so far it's fine. They returned my deposit within 24 hours of receiving my old engine. So far I've had great service and the fact they've given me a 12 month warranty implies they are putting their money where their mouth is. To say' I pass their place most days and wouldn't .....' seems to me a bit absurd. I pass a lot of places everyday, that doesn't give me the right to comment on their service Pot Noodle Challenge Winner 2011
