hi Bodsy, thanks for your reply, I think it's broke. I have never had any TMC although I get perfect reception on classic FM. I have tried the tuning option on the sat nav several times - I dont get anything at all - it just keeps cycling through the FM ststions but never locks. I am not that bothered, because TMC in the NE of Scotland is worth Jack - as its always months out of date for roadworks etc & days out of date for traffic. So it's not a priority. 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.
Taking the greenpi$$ is: Green taxing your citizens more & using some of the money to buy nukes.
Back to the sat nav on the move upgrade.....my dealer called me today and they can now do this upgrade. The trouble is that it takes 1 hour to upload the software and they want £129 for doing it Matt

Mines just back from 2 days with the dealer for phone pti issues to be resolved. When i dropped it off i mentioned in passing about the update to the Sat Nav & said whilst they had the car connected to the computer could they tick the necessary boxes (its no big deal i told them). I even mentioned if there was the need to pay a small fee i probably won't object!
I collected the car this evening & the girl on the service reception told me that everything i asked to be resolved had been done, including the sat nav on the move! Best of all everything was covered by warranty & thus nothing to pay.
When i arrived at my car i noticed that there was a Land Rover DVD on the passenger seat & it is the Part No YIW500013 sat nav disc which i assume was previously in my car (2006 m/y) & this has been replaced with the latest edition DVD when they did the upgrade - so i got the update for free & latest edition maps & i could sell the old DVD on fleabay & actually make a profit on the whole deal.
The downside of the trip to the dealers was that i had a defender for my loan vehicle (having never driven one before & quite fancied a go) After 2 days in the defender i MUST HAVE ONE!!!!!!! So my cheap trip to the dealers turns out to be a bit more expensive then i'd hoped.
I can't fault Taunton Land Rover for their effort & communication through this whole process & after moving my custom from Hunters LR who were next to useless for warranty work it's a real breath of fresh air. My only regret was that i didn't buy the car from them - but they wanted an extra 2k for the same car.

yeh ....can't be bad ... G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
I have a 2005 LR3 with the 2004 disc. Currently 1791 works, but I want to update to the lastest DVD.
Should I have the dealer do the update first, then install the new disc? Or does it not matter??
Thanks,
Angas

There is no lock-out disable update for litigious North America. As posted elsewhere, the 'secret' 1791 bypass code we had before is even disabled now when using a newer map DVD. Oh, well.
