discovery 3 phone

my wifes car has a phone cradle fitted to it which will take a variety of old nokia phones. is it possible to buy a cradle into which we can insert an i phone 4 or 5 please?
is the car fitted with blue tooth? it has the red and green phone controls fitted to the steering wheel. is there a straight forward cost effective way of making and receiving calls from an i phone in the car please? if so where do i go to find it? thanks, john.

no cradle for the iphones unfortunatly

you should have bluetooth

search on your phone for land rover / hands free / ford audio

proper kit should pair with 2121 and aftermarket kit pairs with 0000

depending on your car year ( dosent show in your profile ) you may need a software update to cure pairing issues and give you phone book

all is explained here

If its the land rover phone kit that has voice control fitted(on the left of the wheel)you don't necessarily need a cradle for the phone, she can keep it in her handbag,as long as the phone still has the Bluetooth switched on from when you paired up(2121)you can walk away from the car and it will pair up automatically when you come back to the car, although leaving bluetooth on can use the phones battery up a little,I stored my most regularly used phone numbers in manually then just use voice control to access them when you're driving by name or the directory you have created and the display tells you who's ringing you if you're driving, hope this helps

I gave up on my tow bar a long time ago,I like to think of it as protection for the rear

we have been discussing its imminent removal for the last two hours and i have issued its eviction notice. i have a lovely steel cutting disc in the angle grinder which will cement the deal once i get daylight and the car and me in one place for ten minutes. i may nail it to the garage door as an example to the car of what becomes of reluctant to work objects......... right i must say a big thank you to the help with the phone issues. on the way home from work tonight we paired up the i phones and put the code in you suggested and yes the car does have land rover bluetooth and it all works great. thats made my wife very happy now.
if i buy a nokia handset to fit the cradle fitted to the car will this work independently of the bluetooth function? is it hard wired so to speak? will make a neat back up phone in an emergency. thanks again chaps, john.

In my D3, if I have a phone connected in the cradle, the Bluetooth won't connect. Cradle seems to take precedent over Bluetooth. Wink

In a weak signal area the fitted phone is far superior to the Bluetooth. Why? Well, the antenna for the phone using Bluetooth is amongst all sorts of junk in the handbag on the floor when the antenna for the fitted phone is up in the clear on the roof. No contest really.
