Provided that the car is near to the ground, it is possible, by selecting a lower stud, to keep nearly all the weight of the wheel on the ground. and when engaging the smaller guide most of the weigh is supported by the hub and big stud. The out come is you are not lifting anything near the 60 lbs ( guesstimate ) that the wheel weighs  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer, today I are one!
