Some cracking pictures and a great story told by them.
They really can do everything, my wife always pats ours and says "well done car" every time she gets back from a long drive. IID PRO

Excellent story! Just goes to show how versatile the D3 is as a family car.
I wish I'd kept my first D3 - it would have been 10 yrs 4mnths now. However, it would be getting on for 300k miles now.

Thanks. She really has been great and just supported us as a family and business in the things we do and need to do.
She has 170k on the clock and never misses a beat. I have a great Indie that are staffed with proper mechanics who know their way around cars and keep her well fettled. She is showing her age but always scrubs up well after a wash and brush.
I hope LR keep to the spirit of the Discovery as the do it all car. It rides like a limo, is both a minibus and a van, hauls loads like a truck and munches miles like nothing else. Whatever I need it to do it does and does it well whilst keeping my family safe.
I plan to keep her, my eldest daughter is 15 this year so I suspect I will hand it on to her in a few years time when she is driving, but what do I replace her with? I really hope the new D5 lives up to the Discovery heritage, I can't see myself in a FFRR or XC90. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)

yes, the D5 will come sure.... but I think the D3, more than the D4 sorry by its originality and time, will be forever a unique car, although one modern car, a car from another era...and unrepeatable!!lost in translation!

Great story, Moo.
This - to me - is what Land Rover ownership is all about. It just gets on with whatever you throw at it from one day to the next. No complaints, wherever you go.
Mine will have been part of our family for 8 years on the 27th March this year. Also just cruised through the MOT with no bother.
Thanks for sharing.

As has been said, a great thread, and a great demonstration of excellent D3 reliability.
I can confirm that I found no fault codes of any concern on Moo's D3 too.
