Checked mine 1 month before end warranty. Cracks both sides.Local Dealer never heard of problem-contacted LR have asked for pictures to be sent.I await a decision. If they refuse I will try DSL's idea of a letter . I would have been in blissful ignorance so Thank You forum.
Now where is that thread on all the other things to check before the warranty expires....

Has anyone tried getting a repair on a vehicle out of warranty? Mine is 3 years and 2 months old - what do you think my chances are?

If you can show it's a known fault and you have reasonable mileage (i.e it's not ex-HA) then you should be OK.... If not, I can give you a price to sort it out for Freelander 2 Diesel, Discovery 3 / RR Sport TDV6 & RR Sport TDV8, Defender (TD5 & Puma) - available Now!
Vehicle modifications, preparation, training and equipment also available

Hi guys,
Newbie here!
Got my disco in April, had a look on this site for things to look out for, checked my SR and found it had cracks.
Took it to Droitwich LR, where they replaced the SR under warranty no probs. First one they had seen but no probs, even with the warranty running out next week. That was a close call.

haven't done mine yet, cuz I wonder whether the new part to be fitted is identical to the one to be replaced...
If so, we would have the same problem in some time from now.....
maybe LR came up with a more robust material???

3 year 's up in two weeks. Thought I best check- Cracks on both sides!!! Into dealer today, hope this can be sorted within a week, as its wifes car and it lives normally in Norfolk, but I work in Leics for the week where a local dealer is,- wonder what the chances of getting it done are?
