There are approx 167,000 males in Iceland out of a population of 337,000. Let's say 20% of those males are under 18 and probably not able to play for the Iceland team which leaves 133,600. Of the male population approx 20% are over 60 so may not be fit enough to play for the national team so that leaves 100,200 possible males for selection. In fact there are 20,000 football players in Iceland including females. I could probably go to visit various pitches in London and see 2000 players on any Sunday morning which begins to put this catastrophic result into perspective. I'm supporting Wales from now on but expect Belgium to win the final.

Not so sure about that Moo, sportsman by there nature are competitive, so shouldn't need pride to do well.

Defensively its no secret England are weak and to me it looked like they just didn't have a plan to break down the disciplined defence of Iceland in other words Hodgson's short comings as a tactician and his inability to see past his favourites was our real downfall.

the situation is that some small or smaller countries just do it better & more often:
New Zealand...Rugby is their number one game & passion after cricket maybe
Australia...Rugby is their Number 3 game & passion after Aussie Rules & Rugby League

the reason.......they have a passion & not an expectation that because the England they will win & usually dont or cant.
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

To me it just demonstrates how ludicrously over valued Premier League footballers are!

In a season in which Leicester City won the Premier League title, it seems to come as a surprise to some that England didn't do very well in the EURO 2016 tournament. Rolling Eyes

The Premier League is entirely to blame for our continued failure in major tournaments. Nothing has changed. Changing the manager again is not going to change anything either. Too many foreign players (and I voted REMAIN before anybody plays the racist/xenophobic card), too much money, and not enough talent, ability or desire amongst English players.

It's time we got a manager who is prepared to shake things up a bit and start picking players from the Championship and League One who want to play for the pride of the shirt.

Harry Kane has been found out in this tournament. He's had a shocker. Rooney was not much better last night either. Marcus Rashford had a greater impact on the game during the 4 minutes he was on the pitch than Harry Kane has had all tournament. England international? You're having a laugh.

The sooner we stop picking players based on their reputation rather than their ability and desire the better.
