Difference BMW know how to make good refined engines and now electric ones that can go a few miles .
LandRover are quite a way behind on that scale ? At present the new Discovery is not hugely efficient from the old one ?

Try telling that to N47 2 litre diesel owing BMW owners with disintegrated "for life" cam chains and wrecked engines!
The only fuel economy aspect I find truly remarkable about modern engines, from the likes of BMW and JLR's Ingenium engine, is the difference between the government's official test figures and real life figures!

I'm getting 520 - 620 miles per fill up, that's efficient enough for me. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Oddly, that's about how long I was asked to wait for a new D4 in 2015, although it arrived sooner in the end. It just seems to be the speed at which the factory works.

Still deliberating. Due to change this year and thought it would be the usual easy decision. Now I'm not sure. Never had any thought of changing the brand as a LR owner since 1971 starting with a IIa when no one but farmers and contractors used them. As neither I was thought a bit eccentric to run one as my only car. 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

46 years with LR, right back to the IIa! That's amazing
Don't give up just yet, there are still good, lightly used, 2016 D4's to be had for a while
