Got on with split charge today, not finished as I need a crimp tool that goes up to 16mm (Too late to go get one now ) All cables are run just need to insert a fuse at both batteries and run neg lead to the second earth terminal (Is that the round nut on the inner wing under the large wiring loom ? ) I have fitted the unit on the inner wing which i think makes it a little bit neater. Just need crimp tool (Or should I solder ?), battery clamp plus the long threaded bits that screw it in and then need to run a 10mm cable to the back of the car ready for Iggy.s unit
Probably cannot see a lot because of the sun (bloody rare in Burnley I can tell you )The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

No, I was going to order one with the threaded bar to fasten it in The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

All done and up and running (Thanks Mick Flack for use of large crimping tool, absolute doddle with it )
All fits under the battery cover so all in all quite neat
Now just got to run 10mm cable from front to back, I am going to run it externally on the chassis. I have bought Copex armoured cable protector to run the length of the chassis rail and the cable will go through that. But that is for another day The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

Looking good Mark 8)
How are you intending to finish in the back, build a panel?
And out of curiosity, why have you decided to run the cable externally?
Hi Ben, on the panel front Iggy the Welsh panel wizard is doing one for me On the running of the cable I did not fancy pulling trim out and tucking the cable round bends and such so after a word with Mick Flack i decided on the external route. I have taken precautions by running it through metal armoured Kopex from right in the engine bay right up to inside the rear light. I will now just run it across and into the back panel and await Ieuan. I have added a few pics to show where I run it and slotted it through.
First of all I fed the cable through while the Kopex was relatively straight
Then ran it the length of the chassis (Only hic up was that the kopex would not go behind body mount so i went round
I brought the cable over the top of rear axel with other cables and down back onto chassis and up behind rear light keeping it away from exhaust
The front wheel arch showing where I positioned it and where i took it into the engine bay (Behind heat shield)
Kopex and cable run right into battery box so it is protected from back to front
My best friend the industrial tie wrap
I am now just waiting on Iggy and just got to put a few lugs on either end and job done. I will pick battery clamp up from Mick (Flack) who has made one for me tomorrow
Total cost including split charge and Battery plus all bits is
Split charge- £63 From Simply split charge on eBay
Battery - £68 from Tayna
10mm Cable (10m)- £20 from eBay
Kopex 5M - £25 from local electrical wholesalers
Tie wraps(50)- £10 as above
Total = £186 + Iggys charge for panel and 4 pork & Blackpudding pies in exchange for battery clamp and use of crimper The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

another excellent job done - I have to do this in my D3.
Finally got my D4 today and took the cover off where the second battery is going to go and found some nasty electronic modules lurking in there. I'm happy to move the glow plug controller around a bit, but what is the other module? They're both going to have to relocate to make me happy.
