So I've done my 3 to 4.5 facelift and have the early 4.5 non dlr headlamps. To be honest there not as good as the standard d3 headlamps. I think they had upgraded blubs tho. So my question is what bulbs can I get to make my 4.5 lights better. Cheers

My D3 zenons are far better than my D4 ones. i tried LED bulbs but the build quality was poor and i couldnt get a good beam pattern , the lights were brighter white but were worse at night.
I used góod quality Phillips raceline bulbs in the end but although there better they are still not a patch on the D3

For light output and beam focus D4.5 lamps are rubbish, they are good for spotting roosting pigeons , indicators are very good though and are pretty to look at. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I did wonder if the old ones were better on not but I'm sure they were. went out in the proper dark country lanes and the 4.5 ones are crap.

Ive struggled for years with my MGF. They are so dim when on even the moths don't gather round them The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

Well all new LED bulbs fitted. Brighter and still have the same pattern. Still not as good as my old d3 ones
Never mind. I guess I will get some LED spots/ floods for when I've got full bean on. What's do people recommend?

Right. I've ended up going with novasight led bulbs with alloy heatsink. Really happy so far. I will still get a light bar at some point for full beam I think. I will have it on a switch so it's not always on with full beam. Cheers.
