PaulJ, I tend to agree with you I do not (normally) use them either but xenons in thick fog are a nightmare.
The nice bright white light just 'bounces' straight back at you and you can't see a thing.
On what I term 'normal' dipped headlights you can generaly look to the side or around the dipped beam and see the kerb.
Try doing that on an HSE with those 'swively' lights almost impossible to see where you are going.
The only time I come to use them and they are 'Donald.'
Any way as my 'ankle biter' has previously posted all fixed now but I would point out I fixed them whilst he was still sleeping in his bed Bazza M111

Don't think it's got to that stage yet, will keep an eye it, maybe worth a poll to get an idea of how many sufferers there are
FWIW No issue with the fogs (other than a cracked lens) on my first D3 over 55k and no issues on the second one over 5k

Still a common problem it seems, noticed while testing new bike rack that front foglights did not light up, same as other have reported, wires rubbed through and shorted on drivers side, fuse blown. Car in at dealers Thurs already so going to let them sort it out...
agree of fusebox access, and is there some sort of special place all the fuses go when you drop them and can't find them again?!!! Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

front fog lights not working |
|
Sorry I know this has been talked about before but I have just noticed that the front fogs are not working. I think there was an article about the wires rubbing against part of the bodywork. Is it an easy fix or do you think i should let the dealer do it as the car is only 1 year old and hopefully it will be covered under the warranty. Any advice would be welcome, thanks a lot, regards, Chris.

Well known fault and you are probably spot on. Easy fix, just pop out the spotlights, torx screw to remove (3), and then repair the wire, retape it, repeat the other side, check the other side, repeat and check fuse. all done.

I believe it's a simple fix - a matter of popping out the lights, taping up the chaffed wire and replacing the fuse. The dealer should do it for you free of charge - just depends on how much hassle it is for you to get to your dealer. Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

Im thinking it will be much easier for me to do myself than let the dealer do it. I think I will have a look in the morning. I take it i have to remove the outer ring first before i can get to the torque screws. Is it just a matter of pulling the ring off. Thanks for all your help fellas, regards, Chris.

I just found the same problem last night. After spending ages trying to get my size 10 hands in to extract the spare fuses from the bottom of the fusebox, dropping the plastic "tweezers" down the back of the trim (and retreiving them through the holes in the kick panel, I gave up for the night (23:00hrs and -5C). Bought a box of new fuses, and the replacement blew.
Quick search on here and I've found the underlying problem, saving me a trip to the dealers until a time convenient to me.
Thanks Renny Thomson
