ok - all sorted and now nice cool air!!!
They replaced both high pressure and low pressure pipes on the rear aircon pipes as they come as a unit apparently. They also replaced the dryer as that was knackered also.
Interesting though, I was chatting to the mechanic and he said that they had had 3 Discos in now all with exactly the same problems - anyone on here?
Hope you get/have got yours fixed.

fortunately it was under warranty - runs out June 27th so just in time!!
your cost would be a new pipe and dryer if you want to do properly or just get the pipe if you're not planning on keeping the car that long.
The wear on the pipe happens where there is a clip attaching it to the bodywork. Seems to be quite common for cars of about 2-3 years old with rear aircon as Fews have had three in the last week.

One more thing to bear in mind is that the refrigerant lubricates the aircon compressor... loss of refrigerant = loss of lubrication so the longer the problem exists, the more chance of damage or accelerated wear to the compressor

Just put my 54 plate in for a regas after aircon stopped working and looks like it's also leaking out the rear aircon pipe. It's going back in next week as the mechanic didn't have time to take it apart and have a proper look today but I'm guessing a new pipe will be in order. To save a third visit I think I'll order the pipe in any case and get him to fit it and then regas.
Anyone know the part number and rough price?
cheers.

Hi 98ron,
Mine is going in on monday to be done at the dealers,i'm expecting a cost of over £400 as the pipes are £119 + VAT, then the 2 seals at each end @ £4.00ish each plus a shed load of gas and Labour
I did Email The Large One for a price, and pipes where around £110 with the Disco3 discount if that helps.
I'll post up the cost when i get my car back on Tuesday as i think it's going to be a common problem for peeps with Rear Air Con

Thanks Lee157.
I've got a contact that can order me parts at discounted rates so probably gonna go that route.
If anyone has had this done and has part numbers that would be appreciated.
cheers.

Superb - Thanks Lee.
Gonna get mine done on Friday hopefully.
At some point I hope to get to the stage where nothing needs fixing!

Where exactly on the line does it corrode |
|
Now I definitely want to check my 2005 HSE for this corrosion... I've seen those rear air lines under the car.. but where exactly is this body mounting clip that is the area it is most prone to corroding?

I had a leak test on mine and found it to be leaking from the last body mount to the rear of the car,you couldn't actually see any corrosion as it was hidden by the foam insulation.
This insulation holds any water from deep wading or the usual UK weather, well that's what the garage told me anyway.
I think this is going to be one to add to the check list if buying a used out of warrenty car with rear air con as it is expensive to get done etc.
