Also.... I'm suspicious of one of these inserts into the new cap. The larger connector oring seems to get swallowed up by the larger chamfer in the cap. The bite point on the small connector leaves a visable gap for crush.. The large connector goes pretty much all the way with a 1/6th turn remaining from bite point. I'm tempted to source a slightly thicker oring. Pics are a bit hard to see but gut feeling is the chamfer is to deep on the large hole..

Hiya
From my plumbing / heating days , could u wrap some PTFE on the threads to take up the small gap, plus suppose after you’ve fitted it using some soapy water will at least show if it’s leaking
I’ve also found some O rings can twist and tear as there tightened , used some clear silicone grease on the O ring to help prevent that from happening
Looking at the fitting again, wonder if u could put a copper washer on the thread first , then the o ring , therefore pushing the O ring forward away from the base of the fitting , then putting a few wraps of PTFE
Have come across similar fittings like that in the past on underfloor heating manifolds etc , where the nut is proud so when u tighten it up they bottom out before the O ring can make the seal , so I’ve sometimes had to , double up with 2 x o rings, copper washer, PTFE , etc
