Just as an update on this topic, cars been in the garage for 3 weeks now but still awaiting any good news

The injectors were all removed and took to be tested, so will hopefully get the results of this early next week

Been without the car meant I also missed Flack's trip to Scotland for software mods Big Cry

Well I finally got my D3 back on Friday, so took a good couple of weeks, but a lot of the time was due to the injector specialist taking there sweet Censored time

So all injectors were taken out and sent to the diesel injector specialist. They were put on the common rail test bed and all gave a low flow rate, but 2 more so out of the 6. The injectors were then stripped down for inspection. When stripped down they found no damage but a lot of swarf in all 6 injectors. They cleaned them all up and reassembled for a run on the test bed again. All 6 injectors are now giving good flow readings.

So they were returned to the garage for refitting. No misfire, very smooth idle and very smooth acceleration when driving. Overall really happy Very Happy

So glad I spoke to the diesel company who rebuilt the pump on my D1 for there opinion. The injectors have no serviceable parts, so can't be repaired as such. But even if they felt they needed replacing they still offered the new siemens injectors on an exchange basis for £120 rather then the £250+ from LR. But the work I had done cost £17.50 per injector

That is good news, who did you send the injectors to?

They were dropped into a local company; Lawson Diesel

http://www.lawsondiesel.co.uk/

Down near Ferry Road in Edinburgh

Apperently they are the only diesel injector specialist in Scotland who have a common rail test bed??

They refurbed the diesel pump on my 300tdi D1 about 3 years ago, and thats still running perfectly as well

Good news indeed Thumbs Up

BUT, if they found swarf in all the injectors, I would be very concerned as to the source. What if there is still a problem with a component upstream of the injectors that is causing the swarf?

There might be something damaged elsewhere, but then again there might not

But because its working correctly, I (we) didn't want to start investing removing stuff just for the sake of it

I'm of the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" Very Happy

The injector specialist commented that it was probably down to a wrong fuelling in the cars past, so nothing else would probably be affected

had fault code come up on autologic when TFC came down t'other day, did a spill test at westover LR, salisburys who confirmed what TFC said, that injector 6 was soon to be toast as others were over compensating, had it replaced this week by westover, runs very smooth and decent start up.

moral of the story, get yer injectors tested first if yer d3 runs a bit rough in the morning rather than blame supermarket fuel Whistle Rolling with laughter
