tepidboy - you sure that it's not coming in from behind the door card? Embarassed
See http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic84874-15.html
.....with photos 8)
Solved this myself after the main stealers were unable to find the leak Whistle
The clue was the dribbles from the lower edge of the door card.
And when you opened the door water went on yer feet!
Water was coming down the wiring loom from near the door hinges.
Good luck. Thumbs Up
I will be interested to read how you solve it
.....and don't forget to dry out the carpets and soundproofing properly Rolling with laughter

Thanks twoakers another lead for me to try. Possibly a little different to my problem.

i'm thinking that the best way to find out is get the wife to soak the Disco whilst im inside upside down with my head in the footwell and watch for any water.

Do it more systematically than that. Start low and well away from the suspect area and check often as you work closer and higher.

Sorry just back on the forum......

Have a look at the rubber seal that runs between the doors and the car body. With my problem it was noticeable that the seal had come away from the car body in a couple of places.

It was very easy and cheap to fix. Bought a new seal from the Stealers which comes with an adhesive strip, took of the old seal and made sure the area was clean then stuck the new seal on. You need to take of the panel at the side of the windscreen.

I have the same problem - masses of water in the drivers side footwell. I've had the same problem before and it was the drain tube which had popped off the rubber elbow, an easy fix. This time the symptoms are the same but the drain tube looks fine and when I pour water into the sunroof tray it drains away in the wheel arch and does not appear to leak into the vehicle.

The water seems to be coming in behind the throttle pedal, the insulation behind it is wet so not sure it can the the drain tube. Where does water get in if the A pillar trim is leaking?

Also I appear to have a small gap in the seal at the bottom of the windscreen, but cannot see how water could get into the vehicle that way.

Help! This is driving me mad! GotLf the car to bits and need to fix the leak before I dry it out!

Thanks

Hello Dorlo, have you checked the wiring loom seal for the door? It's the rubber 'hoover' hose between the 2 door hinges. It ends up on a rectangular seal which MUST be clipped secure into the A pillar. Rolling Eyes
If it's not secure water can get into the A pillar and also behind the door card via the cables
Tried all the stuff described on this post before I found my cable wasn't sealed Banging Head
Mine has been dry as a bone for several weeks now Whistle
Only thing that makes the rubber mats wet is my gum boots Rolling with laughter
Will give you a PM with my contact number if you wanna chat Thumbs Up

Hi Twoakers

Thanks for that much appreciated. It looks like the wiring duct and boots are all fixed in ok. I have ordered a clip kit for the A pillar trims so I will fit that and see how I get on.

Thanks

Just done my windscreen trims as soon as you pull the trims off you can see the fault where water gets in " bottom of A post " bit of sponge covering a hole ? Joke really ! Easy job/fix to do just pull the trim firmly off then cut the lower peg off both trims clean foam sponge off A post . Stick small patch over hole re fit trim with new clips ten mins max it took me my car was a duck pond cost £6.88 from dealer for part

Ahhhh part 3!

Right so bought a A pillar clip kit and replaced the broken clips, snapped off the plastic prong with foam surround and put patch over corresponding hole. dried off carpet and waited a few days. Checked today and completely soaked again!!
So got my wife to run hose over various areas outside and checked with torch in footwell. When she ran the water over the windscreen from the front of the car (but not over sunroof) an absolute torrent came into the footwell.
Look!!

If you cant quite see it there are 2 streams of water coming under the soundproofing to the right of the accelerator.

So is this something to do with the front window seal? Does anyone know how to sort this issue??

Ahhhhhhhhhh

Well if the snow stays away this weekend I'm going to have to strip off the lower trim under the window and just try and see if I can work out where it's getting in. Has anyone done this work and any suggestions?

Well t,b

When I pulled my trims off did the patch repair on the bottom of the a post at the same time I noticed there's a second hole ? At the top of the a post so I put some sealant in that and put a bit of gaffer tape over it as the top peg was already broken off the trim .. Just a thought to look at but why is there only two patches in the kit , when there is 4 holes ! That clearly let's water in , so frustrating

Ye I noticed this too. My top tab had snapped as well so it had obviously been taken off in the past.
So I used the 2 patches in the pack on the one side.
That should have covered the possibility of it being the a pillar as the new clips looked to have made a good seal against the car.

Pull off the a post internal cover see if the air bag is wet ect if not it's coming in nr bulk head also check seal on windscreen " as it had a screen fitted" maybe not been fitted correctly and coming in between glass and A post ? The screens are bonded in and if not enough bonding ain't put on screen that will leave a gap for the dredged water to get in Good luck Thumbs Up

cheers, i'll try that. Ive had the car for 4 yrs and not replaced the window so would have thought if it was the seal around the window from a new one it would have shown failure prior to now...?
