Hi Mikey
I'm about to order a new compressor - do you have a part number for the new AMK? and if ordered from Landrover do you know if it's possible to get it shipped with the new software? or is the software update done to the ECU rather then the compressor?
Cheers, Dan.

I used this guide as well a few weeks back to replace my compressor. It was a fairly easy install, except for that top bolt. The new compressor goes in much more easily. My 06 SE was giving a suspension fault, and the compressor was running for long periods of time. The new compressor runs less, and the vehicle raised more quickly. It still had a fault or two when I took it in for the shop to have a look at my rear differential, so they updated the software, and no faults since (although I do need a new rear differential).

Hi all
I'm replacing my compressor with the AMK one over the weekend, but have a bit of a numpty question in relation to cutting the inlet & exhaust pipes. The guide indicates the pipes should be cut as close to the ridge as possible.
Does anyone know if this means cut the pipe so that the ridge is retained on the existing pipe, or is cut off, ie not retained on the existing pipe. Also I can't quite figure out where this short brass pipe support with the small collar goes
Any comments appreciated

Cut the pipes as close to the old compressor outlets as possible - when you fit the new one you can judge then how much more needs to be trimmed off.
The brass tube goes in the new pipe that goes to the compressor outlet - the ridge of the collet goes in first - a small jug of hot water to soften the pipe first makes it much easier to fit - especially in this weather!
You can also take the compressor off the bracket if you find fitting the top bolt a PITA - then before fitting the other 2 bolts, refit the compressor onto the bracket. Mark.

just finished fitting the new compressor, very handy how to guide.
need to get the software updated next week, but noticed i still get a message saying suspension raising slowly - this better than before when it was simply not working, does anyone know if this is usual until the software update is installed or is it an indication of another problem?

Hi Grahjam
I know people who change compressor without software updated and works fine. It seems that you have another problem..

I had that the first time I started the car - but then it was completely devoid of air - once it filled the tank it was fine - and now raises the car really quickly Mark.

I took my original compressor 07MY out today to change the dryer etc, and I removed the top bolt quite easily using a ratchet spanner as opposed to using a socket as suggested in the original post. Just thought I'd post here as it might make the job easier for someone else. I just slid it up in the gap between the dryer and the chassis.
Putting the top bolt back in again on the original compressor is a barrel of laughs..... 2007 MY Irish spec S+ TDV6

well done and thank you Disco_Mikey bloody brilliant post with pics and the 'how to'.
....Had the orange light bong, so at first bought the replacement piston ring kit of Ebay from the very helpful "landyair2013"
while waiting for that to arrive I had the RED BONG and the suspension collapsed
so put the Disco on bricks (nice) and took the Hitachi off
opened it up to find the con rod had snapped clean in half under the piston!!
(landyair12013 took the kit back for a refund )
the AMK went in really well, again thanks to this guide for that (make sure you cut that rear inlet/exhaust pipe as near to the comp as possible to give yourself plenty to join with the new pipe)
replaced the relay but still had the orange bong. So off to the main stealer who being under pressure (no pun intended ) didn't even charge me for the firmware flash
everything goes up and down like it should now

as i had some problems with flashing my eas ecu i finally get a brand new one installed and programmed tomorrow at my lr dealer!
as my original hitachi compressor is also on its way out, i just ordered the new AMK compressor kit.
now my question:
is it possible to put already the AMK required software on the new ecu and use the old hitachi compressor with it until i install the new AMK next week?!?!
would save another flashing!!

Yes it is but also some D3's don't like the new software so its a case of trying it and see.. or stick with whats on if it run ok.
